Hi! I wish I could...but I just didn't keep track of all the steps. It involved some amount of trial and error and playing around with the multi-repplication in different settings. Sorry. But next time I attempt to do something like this I promise to keep better track of what I'm doing. Rayraz, I think I assembled step 5 anew. So I was incorrect in showing step 4 leading to step 5. For after working it for a while I saw that the forms in step 4 were not adding up, thus decided to do it anew in step 5. Sorry for the delayed response rayraz. Thanx! :)

Thanx AS! Would like to do versions of this. Digger, builder, armed etc. ANd put the model up for sale and send the proceeds towards the development of Wings 3D or other open source development. The problem being...would anybody want to buy it? And... Do the wings 3D developers accept monetary help?

Looks like I got in late! Don't have a recent pic...putting in one about a year and a half old! Great idea putting face to names! We had done it some time back, if I remember correct! But then looks like we have new faces since! :) And those interested in geographically placing me...am in India (still the third rock from the sun :P), 36 earth years, and single (in case it adds to the face value :D)

Yes I did notice the similarity between the Sculptor and the Dock defender in "Matrix: Revolution" when I saw Matrix this weekend. I guess being a biped, similarities would also show up with the Alien Crane. However I think the Dock Defender seemed more like something out of Power Rangers style Mechanoid! I was inspired more by contemporary machinery like diggers etc. Left to me I would have designed the Matrix-defenders different. Have a mix of Missiles and Guns. Also make the bullets as micro nuclear ammo capable of small range EMP so that they could damage the circuitry of other sentinels in proximity. Making the defenders with biomechanical control would stop them from being affected by the Electro-magnetic pulse generated. In addition, exposing logistics (in this case ammo loading) to enemy fire is bad weapon system design. No doubt, the script would have to seek its dramatic quotient in some other manner, but showing teenagers as "cannon fodder" loaders to the defenders seemed like bad design. Considering what was being shown as a siege, fortifications and routes to replenishment would/should have been better designed, as no new attack-mechanism was being shown from the machine's end and thus there were no surprises per-se. Therefore such eventualities should have been accounted for. The attack was reminiscent of the Battle for Midway with ant-aircraft ack-acks fighting Kamikazes fighters. Well, now I'm in half a mind to create a defender of my own...which puts an idea...what if we had a mini-challenge of designing our own defender weapon system? :P Any takers? :)

Finished the model. Have added an HPG (holographic projector guide) and the fine-tuning tools! :P Need to create the creative droid now. Lol, thanx for the comments folks. Actually I can quite understand how frustrating WINGS can be with the lack of any UI, as against the visual and intuitive feel of Bryce. But after you realise that all links are right click based and contextual and start thinking the way Wing thinks, it becomes easier. Also, I had just played around with it, extruding, bevelling, smoothing, etc, just for fun a couple of days, making no attempt to model whatsoever, until I could start thinking in terms of how I could plan a model in this. I find that the principals of modelling in Bryce also holds true here...start with basic shapes and keep complicating along the way! :P The fact that I was designing something which existed only in my head, helped in terms of giving me creative latitude. I didn't have to confirm to a design. In case I had to build it so that it confirmed to a design, it might have proved to be that much more challenging. Have yet to achieve that kind of control over the S/W, but must admit I'm happy with what I've got. It definitely helps me attempt at shapes which were quite difficult if not impossible to do in Bryce. Have also come across a collection of tutorials and tips on the web. In case anybody desires, will post some of the url's here. I didn't save pics of the WIP, though I have some of the stages saved as various files. But will subsequently definitely try and save screen shots of WIP, in case it was to help somebody model. Madmax...thanx! :) That will come in handy...and the Bryster, yes I visualised it in terms of a tool which would be used in scenario similar to mount Rushmore! :)

Hey thanx a lot folks! :) Rayraz, the neck was finetuned and developed between steps 4 and 5. In 5 you see some of the multireplication created primitives which I used to create the horse. I left them there so that you would have an idea of what the "primitives" I was talking about were. :P Guess I should have explained better. I would further tweak these primitives by transforming them (rotating, scaling etc) along object co-ords, world co-ords, by grouping and at times ungrouping them.
