The Cycles EnvironmentTexture node allows you to specify equirectangular, but I don't see that sky map even if I make the construct invisible.
No, it's not designed as a sky map but as a REFLECTION map. Render that image in Firefly to see how it's supposed to work.
You don't need a reflection map. This is a hangover from that cheat mentioned above: In the bad old days Poser had no reflection node, and a reflection map run through that sphere map was used to give an illusion of reflection. If you've been at this long enough you may still be able to find materials that include them:
From Maclean's Home One. This really only worked for small items; if you wanted to show a figure reflected in a mirror you had to do it in postwork on a rendered image. In version umpty-mumble the reflection node appeared, and actual genuine reflections became possible, and there was great rejoicing, and you didn't need those maps any longer. In fact they may be part of what's messing you up.
Now what this did was to blend the reflecting object's diffuse color and the reflection map, and it appears to still be at it, which is why setting the diffuse color to black may help if you're looking for a "mirror-like" reflected image.
Thread: Reactivating Poser 2012? | Forum: Poser 12
Is it Poser 12, or Poser Pro 2012? I notice people are still selling the latter. If it's Poser Pro 2012 you've been bitten by Adobe shutting down Flash, on which the libraries depended, and they won't work in any edition of Poser before Poser 11. There are supposed to be some workarounds available, but I've never tried any of them.
Thread: Where should the Poser content be intstalled | Forum: Poser 12
Yep, sorry, that was my aging brain remembering Poser before Windows 10. Here's what mine looks like:
And here's what's in the Included folder:
I highlighted all those and copied, then went back up to "Poser 12 Content" and pasted.
If there's nothing in yours I'm not sure what's happening. Do you get any kind of error message when trying to install the free stuff?

It winds up in a folder called "Included" in Program Files under Poser SoftwarePoser 12, the same place you'll find Runtime. It won't let you (well, it won't let me) add it to the library manually. I just copied everythng over to Runtime ,

Thread: Render size in Poser. | Forum: Poser 12
I went ahead and opened a ticket because it does indeed look like a bug. Both Poser 11 and Poser 12 create a correctly sized array of pixels based on the numbers entered in the "Render Dimensions" panel; whatever exports the image file in Poser 12 apparently isn't paying attention to these and calculates its own "physical size" based on the array size and the default number, 72 DPI. This won't affect anybody looking at the image on a monitor, but will affect anybody trying to print.
Thread: dson error message on start up. | Forum: Poser 12
You can open it in Notepad but I don't think you'll find it there. Take a look in the addons directory and see if there's anything labeled dson in there and delete it.

Well, I did a test render here with that same set -- PoserWorld's Warehouse Bedroom -- and that same light set, and the reflections work fine for me. You may have checked this already, but the piece of that set you're expecting to reflect V4 is actually some distance below Poser's "ground" level. If your figure and chair are sitting on the "ground," they're actually floating above that surface, and the reflections may be there, but fall out the bottom of the rendered image.
Thread: New Rash of Parse Error - Junk after document.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Well - I have it again - this time at startup in both P6 and P7 - after I hit OK they both crash out to the desktop.
I gather this was related to the Content Paradise component of Poser?
This isn't good at all....
Actually it was related to e-frontier's update server having a problem. You might want to look in your preferences under Misc. to see if you have "Check for updates on launch" enabled, disable it if it is, and see if that helps.
If not, well, the other day I installed a program from Intel that turned out to break the hair room in both P6 and P7. Things are gettng stranger all the time . . .

Quote - What if you save it in a different format, like TIFF or BMP?
Saved as JPEG, 0 compression, 62KB; saved as TGA, 1915 KB. Now THAT"S compression! A little too much compression, maybe; load the TGA to Photoshop and save it as a JPEG at max quality (12) and it's 392 KB.
Thread: XML ERROR???? WTH is that? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I emailed e-frontier tech support about this, and they said they were aware of the problem and hoped to have it fixed by the end of the day (Monday 11 Dec). I checked again just now, and it does appear to be fixed. Let's see if the XML errors go away.
Thread: XML ERROR???? WTH is that? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay, I had "update on startup" checked, and sometimes I get the error and sometimes I don't. I also have Ethereal, which is a PC-based network analyzer, and I'm here to tell you that this isn't caused by loading V4, or fiddling about with your runtimes, or some mysterious XML virus, or Jupiter aligning with Mars. It's caused by e-frontier's update system being broken. When the updater actually contacts EF, it gets an error message back, and it spits up this XML error. This also appears to be making the update piece of Poser behave peculiarly, so if you have "update on startup" checked, I'd uncheck it if I were you.
I have to tell you this is not filling me with confidence about being able to download P7 on Monday . . .

Thanks for this and the other freebies! It's a good thing I looked into this thread; I haven't visited your site in a while. Looking forward to the R'osity store . . .
