What would be the best way to use these in Carrara. In the modeling rooms, you cannot put a picture as a background or tracing template. This is something that InfiniD could do and maybe Carrara 2 should incorporate.
Thread: Poser to Carrara | Forum: Carrara
I hope that Curious Labs decides to make a Carrara plug in for the Poser pro pack. I have seen how well the plug in for Cinema 4D works and it is really cool. In the meantime, I have used the morph modifier (several of them actually) in conjunction with exported versions of several morph targets from poser. The animation came out kind of cool, especially because the rendering in Carrara is superior to Poser.

Thanks for the input. I don't have a particular deadline so I appreciate the help, "late" or not. I was using metaballs to model the object, but I do see how I can apply what you have suggested.

I was able to reduce the memory taken up by the OS from 39.2 MB to 32.7 MB (more than the 5MB it requests) but it still will not start C. There is a 98.5 MB block of memory still available, which is more than the minimum but less that the recommended.

That is what I do not understand. I have 128 MB Ram, on OS 9.1. The problems is that with no other applications running, Carrara will not start because there is not enough memory. It says that it needs another 5MB free. I even went to the exentsion manager and shut down a few unneeded things, but the program will not run. When I lower the minimum memory requirements for the program, it says that the program will crash. (and it does) I have been running it on a G3 with OS 8.6 without any real problems. Any input is appreciated
Thread: Alien World - 99% final and a rendering question. | Forum: Bryce
As far as the image, it seems really cool. I could imagine you could reduce the rendering time by just reducing teh size of the output. If you are using bryce 5, maybe there is a way you can get people to help you render this. Just think if you were doing an animation of the ships and tendrils moving.

Reminds me a little of Dune, not exactly sure why. Cool start. The overall proportions seem a little odd, like something is either too short or too tall. Maybe putting in some object that has a "known" height could bring everything in line.

There must be a way to put something in as a template to trace it directly in Carrara. I know that InfiniD could do it at least in the spline modeler. A workaround might be to create a rectangle, go to the texture room and apply your image, go to the modelling room and use that image as the template. I haven't tried this but it might be better than nothing. (Especially if you don't have Illustrator)

Using replicate in the vertex modeler, you can create multiple identical objects with an offset in one or many directions. This way you can create a set of objects without needing to position each one.

There are many ways to view art, so it is hard to choose one piece, but the last one by Threeality seemed to capture the essence of the fear and anxiety of things that go bump in the night. It seems difficult to convey that fear without the response, or in this case the unknowing smile, that a person would feel. Many of the entries were both frightning and techinically astounding in their own right.
Thread: A script idea :) Simple? | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
How might that work? Would you write a function that checks to see if the straight line between two verticies somehow interesects another object? If it does, how could you write an algorithm that moves the vertex 'just enough' so that it is no longer intersecting? This seems like a useful script but I can't quite picture how to do it.

Phantast is right, and answered a question I had hoped to ask about importing. I did try the smoothing and it worked to some degree, but not completely obviously. My hope was less to show motion, as much as I wanted to represent motion, if that makes sense. I was also hoping to create an abiguous sense of who did what. Thanks for the feedback.
Thread: Physics plug in? | Forum: Carrara
Thanks for the info. Since Carrara is new to me, I have plenty to learn and work with. I email the tech support and they confirmed that the liscencing problem had not been ironed out, but when it does the plug in would be available for download.
