nothings wrong with my computer... Power Mac G4 is one of the fastest produiction rendering machines available. You try doing a 4000x3000 pixel image of 203,195 separate polygons with volumetric lighting and procedural textures with bump and transparency maps through 3.06 trillion rays and then anti-alias it and tell me when it comes back. :-)

still working on it.... been rendering for the last week.... its 79% through the anti aliasing phase now (which started on Wed. or Thur., I think). Sigh... my fault for doing something so intricate at such high resolution. Should hopefully be done in a day or two(i hope... haven't been able to use my computer for anything else in over a week).... I can't wait to see what you think....

yeah... really for 3 or 4 days.... I tend to make things that are like 24x36 inches and then I just shrink them down to post here... problem is that it takes a while... especially when I use voulmetric lights and stuff like that. I can't say whether its worth it or not... the effects on the shrunken pictures are subtle at best, but I tend to notice.... plus, if I ever try to sell something as a print later, it needs to be high res. Anyway... I started the render Friday night... its now tue. afternoon and it hasn't gotten to antialiasing yet.... another big problem is that I keep pushing Bryce into the background ot do other stuff.... sigh... maybe I should buy anohter 256M of memory.

Wow... that was fast and a really good job. I commented in the forum with my suggestions for improvement. I'm glad you learned some new things about Photoshop in the process. That's one of the best parts of the challenge. I picked up a new Bryce trick or two on Verdie's challenge to me. That should be up soon. I also haven't forgotten about my anime challenge. In fact, I have already sketched the picture, but my computer has been rendering my cave of verdie pic for the 3 or four days (my fault for rendering at 375dpi, I suppose) so I have been tad delayed. :-)

well Locke dropped his challenge on me.... and decided to go after someone else.... I have the Pod Racer thing (but I'll probably finish that tonight) and I have a Dreamspinner challenge. But since this one is pen and paper mostly, I'll be able to work on it while my computer is busy rendering.... no problem..... I wanna be a fighting champion or something... :-) Ok.... I think I know where you are going with the un-anime thing. No fights... No magic.... No sex.... No problem.... Expect something in a few days.

Actually I put a whole lot of work into this. Its very advanced... believe it or not, the entire thing is only six polygons. The bow in her hair was particularly tricky. I spent quite a lot of time on that. The entire project took me over 5 minutes to create. 99% of that was post work, plus a few seconds that it took Photoshop to boot. Yeah.... I thought it was pretty risque, what with her being in the buff and all (except for the bow of course). I certainly hope I didn't offend anyone. -Mav

ok.... I'm in since Locke decided to let me out of his challenge I think... and also because it'll give me a chance to work with paper (which I don't get to do that often anymore). Keep in mind though I have a couple of other challenges in the running right now. But my G4 is all tied up in rendering for the Pod Racer challenge right now anyway, so I might as well be doing some paper sketches... A couple of clarifications though: What qualifies as unanime. I think I know what character I want to use, but I don't know quite what I want to do yet. Do you just mean no fights? No mecha? No magic? No romance? No school kids? I guess I've watched too much anime to be sure what unanime means...

and lo when the smoke had settled the firmament was ablaze and Traveler had become Dreamspinner.... Wow... this is really cool, Traveler. Like Verdie said elsewhere, this sort of thing is so much harder than it looks I'm very impressed. Had you done anything of this style before?

Actually, I think Verdie is trying to think one up for me ,and I accepted Spooky 3d GFX's Pod racer challenge (which I have been working on all night. its been a long time since I had to model something from scratch) but sure... why not... Getting tired so I'll have to sleep on who I'm gonna pass the hot potato to. Or is this a triangel that I am supposed to complete by challenging Ghost or something?

I don't... more as a compliment.... the ones you commented on are from a story I wrote about a girl named Alyssa.... I try to get as far into the heads of every character I create... be it with words or pictures.... anyway.... yes, I do take it as a compliment... thankyou.
