thanx for the help the only acces i have is the mac at work, this is a bit dumb but my boss doesn't back up work!!!!I am a bit nervous about using mac converter there(from reading the text with the utility, but i guess thats dramatic), but if not than I would have to edit the files here on my PC?hopefully some one can explain that to me,or maybe I'll just try it there

Thread: my ideal burn and dodge tools | Forum: Photoshop
hey, I almost forgot about this post, what i mean is not to lighten ordarken an image, but using these tools as a painting tool, lets say you weremaking a tree from scratch, you could draw the outline with the lasso, fill it with a generic bark texture and than use the burn and dodge tool to make shadows and form and so on, however I've tried this many times and because one area of the texture may be more of a mid and another is a high it goes all weird, can thee tools be altered so they aren't so biased, so the burn tool will adjust the high and mid areas all at once?

I'll have to read that one a few more times mr. apple, for now I just check each part as I go.out of carrara, into poser, back and forth, weeeeee......
Thread: flipping normals is becoming very abnormal | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I tried UV mapper but it freezes on me when I export the object(it's pretty hefty)I had been assembling a creature in carrara before in the same manner( I metaball half of a body and than duplicate with symmetry the other half) but it was 6 legged so I never got around to importing into poser because I thought I'd wait, well now I thought oh god what state will this thing be in, but I opened it in poser to find that only one leg is flipped(no prblem fixing that) butnow I'm like how the heck am I supposed to know when assembling in carrara what parts are going to flip and what aren't?When exactly does this decision come about?this has got to be a serious flaw in developing if its just random and there's no pattern to pik up on, now will I have to export import each section as I build to see?very frustrating.sorry about the speel I just need to release my tension....wheew thats better

thanx for the help, I tried flipping the polygons with the group tool in poser but they just disappeared and than I opened it back in carrara ,and there is a polymesh:reverse normals option but I can't use it .was the 3D explorer just to view the objectfor the inversed polygons(I can do that in poser) or does it convert it so that I can reverse normals when I open it back into carrara or perhaps I'm not using the rightoptions when I open it up in carrara.I will try using UV mapper butI am unsure ofwhatto do with that exactly.I really hope there is a way to fix this problem, thanxagain
Thread: Vertex Modeling in Carrara | Forum: Carrara
I find the VM annoying for one reason but this might be because I don't know what I'm doing- I like to rotate around the object with the camera and tweak the vertices, but have to switch to one of the head-on views to make any changes because if I move a vertice in the camera view it could be going anywhere and I can't tell(farawy from me or right at me) are there any keyboard shortcuts or alternatives in order to move the vertices in only athe axis that is perpindicular from the one I'm closest on in the camera(does that make sense?)well just like when you move them in the sraight on views they only move on 90 degrees

here's my problem,(I'm still with my parents, sorry to hear about the trauma scarab) and I fear it's a major one.I already made this figure into new character and have been texturing and setting up joints to this new character. After rendering I notice all these seams, or craks where I didn't align the parts up well enough.I'm using this figure for a game so can probably get away with it(because I'm sure as hell not starting over)if I delete the IK chains I still can't move the child away from the parent, hey look on the brite side scarab you could be 23 and still living in their basement(loser-me)

will there be a poser5?someone had said that metacreations was discontinuing it, or is it someone else is taking it over?or neither?
Thread: texturing problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
i'm working with model I have put togetherfrom scratch.(sometimes I'm unsure wether to post questions here or in character creators, it seems more people come here and since its all relevant...)I've been at this none stop for the last couple days so these posts I'm making probably don't make alot of sense(sorry ).I have figured out how to assign materials to different parts now and am bak at setting up joint parameters using a already made poser model as reference but the rotation orders don't match up so i think i'll be at this for a while, (I had a copy of this model with no textures but most of the joint parameters set up and than applyied all the textures to a copy without the joint parameters set up so now I'm like'which do I feel like doing all over again?AAAAAAAAAA!!)

k sorry, I should work at it more before I come crying here, I cliked change whole figure and it worked so I guess I need be using the group tool?
Thread: phi program for mac | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
so it can be done that way lynn?I had done that but than when I try setting the joint parameters it seemed impossible to imitate the behaviour of an already made poser figure,I suppose its just about trial and error.Plus do the spwaned props need to have textures applied to them before they are parented to one another, I have a model already assembled in your suggested way but I can't apply textures to it now. I am weary of using another program ontop of all this(VPC)I wish I could do all of this in just one.(AM2000?Hmmmmm?)

I really have weird creations that I want to assemble in poser that I need to use in a game I'm making (that I later will convert to sprites)but am thrown off by the whole phi file writing.i'm on a mac and assume I have to write it manually(in simple text?)I've tried writing simple one for an arm but just get an error when trying to convert. What is the community here like, if I buy poser4 will I really have people here help me out.(I don't know anyone who knows anything about this stuff)I can't afford to buy it and not end up using it.
