I have Vista 64 also. It is not an issue with the NVidia cards themselves but rather Vista 64. If you get the most recent updates to Vista and then get the latest NVidia drivers, it stablizes the open GL alot. Most of it is done by the Vista updates.Â
I think Microsoft is finally starting to pay attention to Vista 64 now that XPÂ is completely gone and Windows 7 seems to be a 64 bit primary OS.
Thread: Question regarding RAM | Forum: Vue
Also depends on your version of Vue and your operating system.
Vue 6 Pro Studio is a 32 bit application so it is limited to only 2 gig.
Windows XP or Vista 32 bit are limited to 3 gig at max but any single app is limited to 2 gig.
If you are going to get a system with 6 gig, you also need to get Vue Infinite and XP 64 or Vista 64 or a newer Mac since all of those are 64 bit.

That is REALLY cool! I just started to play with Carrara... no animations worth looking at yet though... :-)
Thanks for letting us see what is possible!
Thread: Carrara 3D Express | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser 7 imports work with the latest patch on Carrara 6 pro. I am assuming that the patch will be available for Express very soon, if it is not there already.

[quoteCarrara will not, however, re-open that file on my system (Poser handled a much more detailed scene with fewer problems).
I have Carrara Pro... Just got it because of the Christmas deal that they gave. With version 6.03, they fixed the Poser import. I have been able to get several poser projects into Carrara with no issues at all. The only issues I have had is with the "Constraints". Basically, something that is posed correctly in Poser winds up not being able to move to the point I expected it to. However, everything else seems to be pretty good.
Right now, I am trying to get the Light quality that I had with Vue Pro Studio to work in Carrara. I am not sure if it is possible but I think I am pretty close but Carrara does not have Volumetic Lighting model nor the Spectal atmosphere that is in Vue. However it does have sometime similar to the Ecosystems which is something that I was very happy to find!

As to how well Smith Micro is doing as a company, their stock fell over 30% just a couple of weeks ago. You can read about it at the attached link, and has dropped almost another 20% since then. Three weeks ago Smith Micro's stock was $15.42 a share, as of today, it's down to $8.77, (click on the SMSI link on the page I linked to). What that bodes for the future, who knows, but it doesn't look good to me.*
And the market just fell about 200 points today... the sky is falling... everyone run to your bank and hide all your money under your bed! Get real, this stock is a tech stock. Any time techs fall, this one is going to take a major hit.
Also, anytime there are rumors of a major expense, the market reacts badly to so you will really know the effect in about 5 to 6 months.

That is exactly what Daz is telling everyone with Carrara. LOL.
Could also be one of the reasons why EF is doing the pro thing. I don't know, it's just a guess.
I have not been paying a lot of attention ot Poser Pro since it is not out yet but this feature sounds very much like the import we get with Vue (and with Shade though I don't do that very much) from Poser. You get the ability to import Poser models and animation into Vue. You can enable the ability to pose the models using Poser inside of Vue. Vue warns you that it takes up a lot of memory because you are really running Poser objects. So what is the use of Poser? Everything! It is what you are using to manipulate the objects from Poser.
The 10 node rendering... could be cool if they get the animation tools right. Some of that seems to be coming with the fact that EF now has several of the components that they need in different apps. Consider this:
So... If you use Shade/Amapi to do the modeling and Ozone in Poser (someday) to do environments then the 10 node rendering becomes huge!
The way I see Poser Pro is positioning... Shade/Amapi/PoserPro become a series of component that are purchased as needed and added to a base application (Poser).
Also, the comparison sheet is the "Base" version of Poser Pro. There are several Add-On that will be available that will hopefully make the product much more useful.

Quote - What? a couple of heavies from microsoft came round and sat each side of your pc? Â
Yes? No it didn’t happen like that did it?Â
You down loaded it.Â
You installed it.Â
If you are unhappy with it. Then uninstall it and go back to IE6
dont be so Melodramatic Â
Actually, I didn't download it. It was sent as system update to my pc and installed automatically. I didn't see a "do not install" option if there was one.
I usually only use Firefox and still do.

Maybe it is just my PC then however, I found a way to fix it.
I went to the shortcut for Poser and checked the following in the compatibility tab:
I am not sure which one made it work but for now, I am up and running.
Thanks for your help.

I just checked their site again... Mover 5 comes with Hyperview. Below are the notes on that from their site (on link attached): **Mover 5 for Vue Esprit supports up to 5 render nodes. Mover 5 for Vue Professional will support as many nodes as you have licensed.Thread: Network Rendering in Poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry, I as talking about "Use Texture Filtering". I already have Shade Standard so I don't need any more modeling capability, just need to speed up rendering. Vue pricing: $70 for Vue 4 download $100 for Mover 5. Total= $170... Then add upgrade to Vue 5 ($130) = $300 for everything you need. Compared to $700 for Poser to Pro Upgrade or $800 for Shade Std to Pro upgrade... The cost don't justify Shade. Thanks,

Hey, OperaGuy... I tried your "Bucket Size" idea on my system. I have a Athelon 3000+ wtih 1 gig of ram. The render I was doing was taking a good 15 - 20 min under the default settings as DRAFT and turning on Shadows (using Firefly)). I changed the Bucket size to 320 and the render was done in about 5 min! The render size is 640x480. So, I am still using "Draft" settings adding in the shadows so I get about 20 frames per hour. It will still take several days to finish this (I have 4800 frames). At least this way it will actually finish! One thing, if I turn on the Textures, my system chokes completely! You see the Kernal usage around 30-40% and of course, the CPU is pinned.

How about using Shade Pro to do the network rendering and getting the Poser Project there via Poser Fusion? I realize that is a very costly option vs the other ones but at least it would be within one company and there is some hope likelyhood of future version of the software would be based on this... Anyone tried this? Does sound go over also? I really don't like the idea of having to "designate" render frames to different posers. The POV example will not preserve the sound unless it has changed a lot over the years. The only options that seem viable are either using Shade or using Vue.
