Go to the 3DMax forum and search under "'memory"' (last 45 days)
There you will find instructions to install a switch into the boot.ini file of windows to allocate 3GB of memory to programs. It works with 3DMAX and I dont see why it would not work with Poser

Thread: Specifying BVH Offset | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The tutorial deals with translation that is easily fixed globaly in the graphs editor ( as shown in your tutorial ) However if you try the same thing for the hip in y rotation to match two bvh files, you will find that the animation will be dramatically altered. The only way to rotate the hip (y) is to rotate the body and this cannot be saved in a pz2 file
Thread: Specifying BVH Offset | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
One of the major problems with combining variouse BVH files is when the hip ( y rotation ) is 90 or 180 degrees out. Trying to correct this with a body rotation is messy and usually does not work ( also cannot be saved as a pz2 file ). You cannot rotate the hip globaly as this will mess up the animation. I have tried modifing the basic BVH files. this works but takes years and I wont try it again ANY IDEAS FOR THIS ??????

set up your starting pose and parent gun to figure "body" turn on figure IK for arms parent figure hands ( left and right) to gun apply animation. the gun will move with the body and if the body is not animated then it will be necessary to move the gun with the forward motion of the figure

Thread: How can i make a character pick up a stationary object in a animation? | Forum: Poser Technical
What I do is have two objects in the scene, one parented and one stationary. Complete the animation the fix the key frames for the unparented object. now parent the object to the poser universe (unparent it) and delete the key frames where the object was stationary and copy the key frames from the stationary object to that section. Problem is if you change the animation (Tweak it ), you have to do it all over again as the object is no longer parented This is the only method I know to have an arrow leaving a bow and hitting and object (body). I would love to hear of any othe methods

Now if I uncheck "cast shadows" on the prop I get a good shadow from the figure. However if I bring in another prop with "cast shadow" checked the figure shadow will go back to that in the first picture
