Sometimes I have renders for over 24hrs, thats quite normal I think, you can pause the render with esc, and continue rendering later, keep Vue open 'course.

Proc Pentium 4, 2 Ghz Mem 1024 Mb 333 Mhz Vid GeForce FX 5900 U HDD Maxtor 40 Gb 7200 rpm 2 Mb Clean Win XP Prof install So that's why I think it is Vue. Just have too deal with it I quess. I thought other progs like CAD would be better. Maybe the computers are not up to the filesizes. :(

Yeah, I always groop objects as much as possible. And of course I leave only one or two layers open. But still the larger the scene gets, the more instable Vue gets. Sometimes errors occur during saving, then the files that used to be 230 Mb get 191 Kb. Fortunately I make backup copies of the scenes every hour I work in Vue. But still, I have 1024 MB of memory, that should be enough doesn't it?
Thread: I wiss for new version of Vue ... You can make also your wishes:) | Forum: Vue
All I need is a Vue version that lacks bugs. Vue 4 is so bug-ridden that I often stop using it for weeks. No bugs would make me happy.

You have discovered the world wide web as a place for recourses. It is most important to know where to find the things you can not create yourself. Nice sky, light is very important, it can really make or brake your scene. But try to photoshop away the lens flare, you will never see a lens flare on a photo that was shot at night. Palms are ok, but I would have placed them more to the sides, so they do not pull your eyes to them The texture of the ground looks too fake. It is very hard to make realistic textures, and very important, realistic textures can also make or brake your scene. I had best results using photographs. Also add some more plants on the ground, and stones, perhaps an animal or some wood or something like that. It are the details that really make a scene realistic. Remember: recources, light, textures and DETAILS! Nice job for a first time by the way ;)

Thanks! I have been browsing the forums only since a few weeks, I should have started earlier. Actually it's quite logic, but I never figured it out myself, thanks every one!
Thread: I love VUE 4!! | Forum: Vue
Vue is as easy to use as bryce but it has some very important things from 3ds max without being too complicated. For me it's the perfect balance, the only thing that I need is a decent plant/tree generator. If thats in vue 5...it would be really mindblowing don't ya think?

Wow, lot's thanks Scarab, just what I am looking for, I'll try to find a program to open it, there are a lot of programs that can translate other programs' files... Thanks for looking anyway!

I know humans are extremely comples. Fortuneatly, I don't like humans in my scenes, but this one is different. I don't know about Poser, but I guessed it would not be such an big deal to make a head, a coat and two feet. If I invested much time in a gook looking mesh, I would like to share it, but I guess I cannot speak for everyone!
Thread: Contest Idea??? (the right one) | Forum: Vue
My idea was, that if someone has a great idea, he could send it to you, and you could decide if its good enough or not. With a proper description, some great passages from books could be very inspirating, good idea! Parts of movies could be harder, becouse it's more like reproducing an photo so I don't think that's a good idea. Letting the winner to choose a theme, is of course a great idea. (if someone doesn't win too much times!)

If it's not legal, too bad, but don't bother. Perhaps I'll insert a 2d image in my scene. And if not, hmmmmm, I'll find a way to make the scene more tasty. Thanks man, I really had no idea it was not legal.

The idea is great, and perhaps I will not always have time to make a scene, but others will, you are right about that. Now I think about it, perhaps you should give us a larger variaty of ideas for scenes, it would be more challanging for us. They must all be good, but perhaps others can give you some ideas. The idea of describing a highly detailed place, is good, but leave some space for some artistic freedom. The idea has enourmous potention, and perhaps a new site, or a part of this site should be made for it if it turns out the way I hope it will.

It would be an excellent test for someone's skills. And, people could learn a lot from it. But I have my own style, making pictures that I do not like, would be awful. So you must write down really good ideas for scenes. And a month is really little time for me. This is all just a hobby for me, I am a very busy student, and I don't think I am alone. So perhaps it should be 2 or 3 months. But the idea is great, if you try to think up really great looking scenes, it MUST be a succes
