Thread: content implications of move PC to MAC | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
So GLAD I found this post ,
I have just gone to mac and have asked this question to . I may be mad , but my wiffy loves her apple gear and thumb on head , persuaded me to get an imac. She loves it .....
For me , it`s a whole new system and is screwing with my PC ways. I have used poser for many years , from version 1. However , since version 7 and learning to setup runtimes in a reasonable way . Using the imac , is , well , new. I had purchased Poser pro 2012 and hardly used do to our circumstances.
So , having the hard copy , installed to the imac . What a dream ,.......... Installed so easy......
Untill , and I am preparded to redue all content I have purchased from here /Daz / Rdna etc, I downloaded V4.2 from Daz and was told in so many words "You can not install this etc ".
Ok , so after researching found I had to give permission . Did this , just for the V4.2 and it installed into a folder in Applictions/ poser / 4 folder...............hm. Ok booted up Poser and it did not go into main folder of Poser ..............
Here we go..... so searching the web , came up with no darn help , seemed to me that no mac users have openly shown newbie mac peeps How to.
Then I found at good old Renderosity this post. Wow.......
So , now I wished I had saved my PC poser runtimes on a exturnal drive.....
On the Daz site , they are about to change everything , no more installers , just a Daz installer. Sounds good but scary as with all new things , well you know.....
If , and I say " Please " loudly , would a Mac expert / user help , from , a Mac newbie point ,on how to download and install to the mac OS x 10.8.3. And if possible setting up seperate runtimes on the Mac system .
Then please help.... Thank you in advance ,
To the Poster , go for it if you can , the mac seems very good ...............

Hi guys for me ,I have many bugs in 2010, from just gentley clicking on any figure ,using any tool , twist/rotate and transform ,makes the model parts jerk to the right.( Alot worse the P5/P7) . And adding any prop to the scene and clicking on them sends them to the right to. I have to move parts using property dials only.
To ,when loading a mat for a figure , and the figure in the scene turning black.
2010 must still be in beta and look forward to the first update.
I hope to rig my own models, but dear not just yet ,SM seem to be quite quick at fixing ,looking at Poser 8...........we`ll see.........
I to thought it to be an AV prog problem , I run AVG internet security 2009, and have turned it off, removed it and still the bugs remain, I had only rendered one model ,V4, with "Hear no evil " gear. And removed all unused morphs to shrink the file mem.
I ran out of memory ? .........With 3 gig of mem I was really surprised...........

Thank you for replying , do you happen to know if there is a place to look at the reported bugs , you know a peek before you speak type of forum. I have now reported to SM..........
Yes and you are quite correct Poser has never been too good at animation as the pro versions, thats why I purchased the 2010 , I was hopin for the render to movie to be as good as Daz`s output, but then they use a pro renderer........
Cheers

@ ratscloset , nice advice......hm , for a newbe........doesnt alter anything I
ve written.
Bug it is, untill fixed. I had read that Poser Pro 2010 was Poser 8 with the plugins , didnt believe it til now . Also a memory bug , trying to do symmetry ( ie , left arm to right )while posing hangs the program for a good 10 mins while it sorts it self out, never had this before in 4/7... Still SM will sort it ..............may be just the 32 bit version I
m running ...........

Thanks for confirming guys, there was nothing saying any different.
Is there a whole lotta difference between the 32 /64 bit render, as when rendering ,the pic seems hazy, where 5/7 is pretty clear, although , close up and res set to 300 is very good when rendered. If it is I`ll save quicker and continue building another puter....
You guys must be kinder experts , so has anyone used the graph to adjust movements in an animation as yet ? It is a real pain in the ass , first I checked to see if the resolution was incorrect for Poser Pro 2010 , ( 1024 x 768 minimum resolution) , mine is 1280x1024.
To explain , when doing adjustments using the graph , the top of the graph gos out of site ? No matter how big you make the menu window , it is impossible to reach the top or the bottom of the graph. However , if the graph is closed and reopened , it has adjusted itself and you can now see the top / bottom of the graph and able to carry on using to finish adjusting the animation. Wow , a real no to work flow..........! Perhaps its just my computer/me ( norm ), but never had this prob in any other Poser progam 1/7, before. And to make matters worse , clicking on the adjuster on the graph is a pain too , now having to enlarge the graph so I can adjust and it gets in the way. Do I realy need to shell out for a larger screen/ video card for one program , or is it all adjustible? I am going to update my drivers today for the Nvidia GS 7900 and see if itmake a difference , but doubt it............. Ok , I
m no pro , just a long term hobby person, perhaps there is a way to get it right , any advice guys on setting the windows , before I go to SM and make an idjet of meself......?

Two shortcuts on the desk top ,hm , both work ? And mine is a 32 bit system , maybe cause it can be a 64 bit system ? Will it blow up my computer running 64 bit or is it really only running 32 bit and just not doing what it could on a 64 bit system?
Close up renders fine , crashs once so far , will there be an update soon or have the bugs been ruled out due to it being a P8 with bells. Or do the updates apply from P8 /or Poser Pro 2010 different ?
Strange looking male and female models , female has a broken neck on mine. Has any one used the male Ryan with mocap cart wheel ?
I did, cleaned the whole thing up ,looked kinda cool. Then I tried to add another to it ( like I`ve done many times in P5/6/7 ) and the whole prog crashed on me ? Still early days and this place has died since the release................?
