Hi , just an idiots question , how do you do a chrome shadder. I created a sphere and draged the shadder ontop and rendered . Crap . Is there a special way Carrara 2 renders. Please help . Oh and in answer to the partical Q. I have got it up an working once and animated ,well ????????????.Have you read the shit in 3d world , hope Eovia show`s them in time ? Has any one had trouble in regeristing C2, Is ther a trick to it or have you been lucky?

The chrome shader is very reflective, therefore if you have nothing else in your scene there won't be anything to reflect in it. Put a sky and other stuff and see what happens. My C2 registered fine.

Patrick is right: You could have a great chrome shader but an environment map or atmosphere is essential to get the reflections you want. I'm showing you an image which is basically the same object (and same shader) but with diffferent background images (I'd recommend some clouds pictures or some abstract swirls..) Also a good tip that always helps is to bevel your object so you can get some highlights. I used a shader called "anodized aluminum" from a shader collection called "Real World Carrara Metals" The one from the banner in the top of the page. I'd recommend you buying it. It's affordable (10 or 15 bucks, I don't remember...) But It really has a lot of shaders that you can reuse or analize for making your own. You won't regret getting them. I use them for almost all of my projects. Good luck. Hope this helps

I second the opinion on Real World Carrara Metals. It is the best shader pack I have purchased. I only hope litst creates some more shader packs and sells them... HINT, HINT LITST!!! :-> Paul

Also check out the attached link to give you a good chrome example that was done as a GI experiment. Paul

Glad you like my shaders folks :) There may be another shader pack coming ... But it will take time because i work on it on my spare time, and also because it's a big one ! To Peterpan : you should have received a registration card with your copy of Carrara Studio 2, you can send it to Eovia and they will manually register you if the web doesn't work . litst
