Thanks Dizzi. I checked the LibraryPrefs.xml file but everything seems to be ok in there though ... The line for my custom Runtime looks like this ...

I have some references to textures in the default Runtime AND to textures in my custom Runtime in the material files. Is that ok? Otherwise I have no clue what is wrong. The path names all seem to be correct.

Hmm file search is set to depth by default so that's not the problem. Any other hints? Are textures only allowed in the default runtime?

Just received Practical Poser 7 and worked through the first couple of chapters ... a great book really, especially if you are not too deep with 3D in general but you don't need to get an explanation of every single menu item (I think that is what Poser 7 Revealed is for).

Yes I know that. But when you set Mouseware to fastest and then set the Win generic driver to fastest, the Logitech driver is still alot faster (and more precise) than the Win driver. I.e. the win driver simply doesn't offer the same acceleration scale.

Also if you use a Logitech Mouse that uses Mouseware and your plan to keep it like that, note that Logitech doesn't plan to develop any Vista-compatible drivers.  My MX310 runs with the Vista generic Mouse driver but its a lot sower than with MouseWare (higher DPI?) and middle mouse button doesn't work! The driver situation for Vista is a horror (because of the aforementioned protections).

It's sad to see somebody in the best age to leave us all behind! I know it from own experience because I lost a good friend about a year ago. You have my deepest condolences!

Thanks but could you enlighten me a bit? What are binary morph targets used for? I'm not really that far with Poser.

thanks nruddock! That worked but as expected all my face morphs are lost. So I have to start over because this file was pretty much only a custom face. My question before I start again would be: Does this V4-Poser incompability mean that I cannot use custom morphs on V4 at all or are only certain morphs affected by this?

Does it work for you PerfectN? I saved a V4 scene yesterday and today I experience I cannot open it. Crashes to desktop everytime. also unchecking Use external binary morph targets does not help.

Any info when V4 will work correctly with Poser 7?

Thanks Marque! I will probably go for that one. Secrets of Poser Experts also doesn't seem to be a bad choice. **Poser 7 Revealed looks more like it is a beginners guide.

Makes me wonder: Vue is highly popular and soo complex that libraries could be filled with topics about it. But searching on Amazon I cannot find a single book about it except the one mentioned here which seems to be pants. Compare the book situation with Maya, Max or even Poser!
