Tks, just found a show stopping bug a few days ago. Glass would go weird from a imported .3ds file from xfrog 3.5 (not sure if all 3ds would be effected). Nothing i did would reset it to reg texture.
Save file, exit then start up bryce again and the texture was ruined.
Went so far as to download vue 8.5 infinite ple to see if that could replace bryce (and im still going to test it).
That being said, IÂ exported all compatible formats of the diode i made, turns out bryce 7 did not corrupt the texture if it was imported as a lightwave lwo file. A close one as IÂ was growing angry since IÂ did pay the $50 bug test fee.
So got the workaround for one bug.

Problem I forsee is a distance object (assuming miles away in the haze) never works well with a cloud base thats preset above it. You almost have to use a no texture sky or one that is heavily hazed so that the background sky barely shows though, other wise in theory that sky is literally a hundred miles up etc.

Not any time soon, I actually took off 3 lights which were right above the buildings where those 3 red lasers go into the sky. Refused to let it render for more then the 12 hours it took. Unfortunately my other 2.5gig comp is a little slower and due to the fact is has 512 megs less ram, no way to let it render there over a few days. Now if I had another gig of ram, I might have gone back to it later, zoomed away from the center and started adding some satellite cities.

I never comment on the really bad art, half the time its in a area I have no experience in anyways. But I will say that had I not got the comments I did for the very first picture I posted here, I probly would have made 1/4 the pictures I have since then. Those comments were the boost to actually try harder. Course I musta lucked out haha, cause took quite along time to get that many or quality again.Theres definately some bad stuff out there, and I suspect in some cases they actually got a group of freinds doing all the 'omg its beautiful' 'best picture ever' cause when I look at it there is no way.
OH, and why was there so few good comments on this picture: I worked on this one night and day to finish.

Thread: Question on dual monitor and Bryce 5 | Forum: Bryce
the issue was bryce when opened would automatically span to both screens cut in to by each monitor. I just want it on the left screen only leaving the right one free for non graphics webpages etc. Hope i didnt buy this 2nd 21in used hp p1110 monitor for nothing haha.
Thread: What system do you use? | Forum: Bryce
Those video cards will be a complete waste in bryce. Unless your using max etc you wont even notice and even then they are for the moving huge numbers of triangles PRIOR to hitting the render button. Best thing you can do is buy a 2nd comp with a most basic of video card, small harddrive and even a cheap video switch for display. Let that one do the final renders so your main is still usuable for other projects. Best you can do is the top end cpu and even then youll see only a 3x improvement. Sadly, as ive seen from back on my old p2-400mhz, every time ive upgrade, the scene got more complex until we are back into a 3-4 day range worse case picture. If you got a fantasy pc 100x faster then anything on the market now.... in the end all most would do is turn on volumetric render etc and bang youd still be 3-4 days haha.

Thread: hekp, i'm having troubles | Forum: Bryce
Grouper should work but also check that any textures your using in poser do not have too long a filename. If they do, manual rename them with something short. Dont know the limit but i did get crashes on one texture once over and over until i was told to rename the long ones.

Excellent modelling, and whats most intesting is your not using a billion meta balls, its just the perfect placement. Great one.
Thread: Alright, bryce 5 now crashing for no reason. | Forum: Bryce
I guess if i had too id render to disk.. but even at 800x its stating almost 2 days to finish. Ill give that a try after ummmm IF it crashes after this fresh install, seems like it wants to crash only in the final pass, probly wont know until tomorrow.
Thread: Alright, bryce 5 now crashing for no reason. | Forum: Bryce
Its only at about 550megs of 1gig memory in use. Just reinstalled bryce from stratch and starting a smaller 800x700 render (dont have patience to wait for a 1024x to crash).

Does the Maya put very noticable watermarks on the renders? Ive not installed it yet but if it does, then id say it barely worth looking at.
