I'm somewhat discouraged. I can't get a render to complete in P7 with a single, nude figure (Sidney or V3) and nothing in the background, when I add hair. The renders take a loooong time, actually go past the hair, and Poser simply.....disappears....when approaching the end of the render. I am rendering at approximately 600x600 (not large!). This happens whether I am working in a saved PZ3 from P6 (from an external Runtime) or in a new window with P7 content only.
I make sure that all nonessential processes are closed, and the only app open is Poser7. I turn off raytracing for the hair props.
I'm operating in Windows XP with SP2, and I've maxed my RAM at 1gig.
::sigh:: any suggestions - besides waiting for SR1? I haven't even opened P7 in over 2 weeks; it's useless to me in this state. (And, by the way, I've been using each version of Poser since 4.01, and never had any problems.)
Thread: How do I get the free passport for 6 months with P7? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm glad this thread is here; I bought the P7 boxed set, went to CP, went to the "P7...activate 6-month membership.." link, added the thing to my cart, entered the coupon code that came with my order......and got an error message that the coupon code was bad, or expired, etc.
For lack of a better link on the site, I opened a help ticket. Anybody know of something else I could/should try?

You could 'sneak up on it' , one dial at a time with the Parameter Settings dialog, test it out - carefully - then put it back to the original limits if it doesn't work out. That would save blind work in a text editor, if you're not trying to change a ton of dials at a time. Or am I being too simplistic?
Thread: Get your James 2 now :) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've got a problem, and hope someone here can help me out. When I try to download G2 James, the Serial Number form doesn't recognize my P6 serial number...I keep getting an "invalid or incorrect Serial Number" error message. I've double-checked my typing, and made sure I included the hyphens.
Since P6 was released, I've downloaded all the Service Releases from CP, and never had a problem like this before. Has anyone got any idea what's going on?Â

Thanks for all the good tips and info; I'm now saving as PDFs...which I wouldn't have thought of. I'm curious, though; I can't get the pages to "Save as....HTML document" any more: at 49%, the save errors-out with "Couldn't save Web page".
Anybody know if this is also due to the Forum change-over?

If it's the one I think it is, it was made by John West at Ghastley Software (so sayeth the Readme); try this link.Thread: Depth of Field Trouble | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Go to Display>Guides>Focus Distance Guide. A big, black crosshair-looking object appears over your scene. THEN go to the Camera Properties pallette, and there is a wheel titled "focus Distance". By adjusting that wheel, you move the guide in and out of the picture to the point that you want to be in focus.

Have a look at this thread (it's the most recent one here) dealing with the 'glowing nostril' problem:http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=2577132
If that doesn't solve the problem, search here using "nostrils". There are several good threads dealing with this. (edited to correct hyperlink)

Thread: Frustrating | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've had the same problem with some conforming items (particularly thansmapped, morphable hair), and I've found that my problem is somehow tied-in with the "Conform" command in the Figure menu. I can only get the hair to stay put if I "un-conform" (Figure>Conform to>none) the hair, and then position and parent it to the head manually. I noticed the same problem in P5, also, but in both versions, I only experience the problem with some models (e.g., Koz's Kyoko Hair MK 3).

The 'white edges' may be from a blinn node connected to the Alternate Specular port on the PoserSurface root for those parts of the figure's body where the edges appear...in conjunction with the backlighting.
Thread: How do I get beautiful teeth in P6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That thread was back in July, I think; do a search on "teeth" in this forum. I believe it was titled "Do these teeth look better", or it was titled along those lines.
Thread: Problems with Poser 6 textures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser 6 renders bump/displacement settings with much more 'force' than P5 did; trying lower settings is a good idea. For human skin, I end up with settings in the .0025 range, but "your results may vary". The blacking appears to be due to a too-high setting on the ambient occlusion bias (either in the lighting or a material node).
Thread: Problem: How to Re-orient Camera and Lights | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I can't get the lights to parent to anything, whether I try to do it via the Properties palette, or in the Hierarchy window. I would dearly love to be able to do this, so if someone knows a way to do it - in P6 - I could sure use the help.
