You can always do it in post. You might be able to find some stock explosion pics on the web and then comp it into your pic. There's also an app called Wondertouch (formerly known as Illusion) that does pretty convincing explosions. (see link) It's pricey, but you can d/l the demo and play around with that. you need a video editing program. Adobe Premiere is the standard, but it costs a bundle. You can find Lumiere Video Studio for under a $100. (see link) I have Lumiere (back from when Corel offered it.) It's a pretty powerful program for the money. You might be able to find some freeware/shareware apps on the net. I've got a tut for animating ocean waves, but it doesn't include breakers. To simulate the spray you might consider an app called Illusion. It's a 2D particle system that simulates 3D effects. It's a bit pricey, but they have a free demo. Check out the water effects on this page... http://www.wondertouch.com/gallery_mpg.asp Steve S.Thread: My Hellcat | Forum: Bryce

Nice, groin. I've got a tut at my site for simulating blurred props in Bryce if you need it. See the link above. Steve S.Thread: FREE SOFT TO USE WITH VUE D'ESPRIT | Forum: Vue

World Machine is a freeware terrain heightfield generator for Win98 or later. It uses an 'object-based' approach so that changes can easily be made anywhere in the pipeline. Steve S.Thread: Feature Film Frame Rate Question | Forum: Bryce
I think you mean the aspect ratio rather than the size. Go into the Document Setup and you'll see that Bryce has quite a few presets for various formats (70mm, Vistavision, Cine35, etc.) It all depends on what you're planning to show it in. Steve S.

I think that most movie projectors run at 24 fps. At least anything larger than Super 8. Steve S.

I might as well add Nacati Pamuk's tutorial for simulating radiosity using a light dome. Steve S.Thread: How to replace default key with my own bitmap? | Forum: Vue

Here's a tut that Necati made for simulating radiosity in Bryce. I think he even has a light dome that you can download. Steve S.Thread: Modeling and positioning objects in Bryce scenes tips & tricks | Forum: Bryce
If you're doing a lot of boolean work, you might consider getting Truespace 3 (www.caligari.com) It will create a true booleaned mesh. They're selling it for $99. Steve S.

Wow! Beautiful pic, Cheers. I've got a tut for doing a similar effect at my site. Don't know if it's the same technique that you used. I used a gradiant alpha map in the transparancy channel to make half the planet invisible. Steve S.Thread: geometrical question? | Forum: Bryce

A chain or cable suspended freely from both ends forms a catenary curve, not a parabola. Don't worry, Galileo made the same mistake.(see link) The Gateway Arch in St. Louis was based on the catenary. Just to nitpik, the acceleration of gravity is 9.8 meters per second per second (it's seconds squared.) A ball thrown horizontally (or at any angle) will follow a parabolic curve if you neglect wind resistance. Johnpenn was right about the horizontal velocity being irrelevant. Suppose you have a gun lying horizontally on a table. A bullet is lying on the table near the edge. If the bullet rolls off the edge of the table at the exact moment the gun is fired (horizontally), which bullet hits the ground first? Answer: They both hit the ground at the same time.
