This is the exact same thing that happens to me and I also have a mac. Could this be an issue that poser has with mac?

I have a similar issue in 11.2 Mac. First the parameters dials cease working, then if I try to select a different object I'm unable to. I'm able to command-save though so I restart Poser and keep at it. Tends to happen about once a day.

With some figures, the arrangement of the eye mats vary, depending on the way they are constructed. The attached image shows the shader arrangement for Alyson.
The category settings below are for Superfly rendering:
The second image is for Firefly:
Thank you! the black line is gone!

That is not a problem. You can create those definitions yourself, save and apply. You just need to select the proper settings for each body part.
Edit: If you need instructions just ask, I can gladly give you more details. Which Ezskin version did you pick up?
After trying this myself, I might need those instructions. I ran the python script, chose EZSkin, got it up on poser, saved it, but now I can't figure out how to apply what I saved to my figure.
Just figured out how to add it. Do you know what parameters I should change on the eyes to make it work? I applied the material but nothing looked different.

Thank you, I'm going to try again today. I am pretty sure that I have EZSkin3.

Yes, EZSkin 3 is compatible with Poser 11 and is the best option to correct the problem as I stated in the previous post. Off-hand, there was a sticky in the Poser forum which connected to Snarly's site but it isn't there anymore, Try a forum search going back, at least, 2 years. Otherwise, let me know if you are interested in the script and I will hunt it down.
Edit: Actually, you will find it at CGbytes, free item in their store.
Thanks, I'll go try that out.
Just tried it out today and found out that Alyson is not a supported figure by EZSkin

My recommendation, go to the Material collection and apply the Alyson Ultimate material. That should correct your issue. I am examining other options, but unfortunately my system if having problems rendering Firefly with SSS. I normally render in Superfly these days.
Thank you for trying to help. I tried using the Alyson ultimate material but it didn't remove the black line. I'm going to go try some different lighting today to see if that helps.

is this your own texture?
Does it happen with the default eyes for this character?
The texture is one I made, but it is basically the same as the default (I just used an art program to change the iris color). It is also doing this with the default eye texture. I tried rendering just plain Alyson (since I used Alyson as the base for my character) and it has even worse black lines (picture below). Is there something wrong with my render settings, or do all renders using Alyson have this?

We have some great lighting tutorials here and elsewhere online that should help a lot. Learning about texturing and utilizing snarlygribbly's EZskin or EZskin3 for P11/PP11 at CGbytes (it's free) most seasoned users apply this great script. Eyes are tricky and need a thread just on them. But we'll get there. Let's just get you started. Like most programs, there is not a "make art" button. You do need to learn to adjust settings.
Thank you, I am looking forward to learning how to use poser better.

You haven't said what version of poser you are using. Saying that the image is grainy, I'm guessing you are using Poser 11 and rendering with the default tsettings. The default render engine is Superfly in Poser 11. This is new and some older materials don't work properly in it. And eyes have particular problems with built in reflections adding to real reflections.
Try going to render setting (you can get to these via the render drop down menu or by clicking ctrl-y in windows, and select the firefly tab. You can now go to the automatic settings and try playing with those. See whether this helps, then later on you can start learning about the various render engines and how to get the best from.
thank you, I'm going to try that.

What's your light setup, render settings and material settings? I can't tell from the picture. Preview doesn't tell you how it will look rendered, just tell you how to place the item on the screen.
I am using the default light setup on poser 11 (the one that is there when you first open poser)
Thread: Poser 11/Poser 11 Pro: Bug Reports | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have poser 11 (on my mac) and it has problems a lot. Sometimes it will just stop doing things, like I will try to adjust some parameters or add a material to something and nothing happens. Each time I have to close to program and restart. Sometimes it will even just crash. Like the program just turns off before I can save anything. Is anyone else having problems like this?
