I emailed D3D a while ago and haven't heard anything back yet, perhaps he's busy.

Thread: Poser 8 "cannot load texture" problem solved | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes Magik1
I have worked around the 'runtimes starting with the same letters' problem with a similar method (see earlier post in this thread - hairb changed to newhair, sci-fiScenery changed to scifiScenery). But it is a pain having to do it just for Poser 8, they all worked fine in Poser Pro and 7.
It can't be that difficult to fix can it?

Yes LMK is correct, this whole external runtime paths issue is a real mess. I hope they can sort it out in SR1.
I have had to rename many of my external runtimes to enable P8 to pick up the textures.
As well as numbers it also has a problem with runtimes that start with the same characters.
Example:
C:GrafixContentHair will work fine but if you add another runtime called C:GrafixContentHairb it will mess up the path to the Hairb textures.
If you rename the Hairb runtime to NewHair it works fine.
Another example:
C:GrafixContentSci-Fi works
C:GrafixContentSci-FiScenery doesn't, but rename it to C:GrafixContentScifi-Scenery and it does.
Can anyone else confirm the 'similar name' path problem?

Yes! Well done lkendall for noticing this.
I am seeing the same thing.
Here are a couple of examples (two different types of file path corruption):
The path to an external runtime called Hair02 is being corrupted to:
C:GrafixContentHair2Runtimetextures...
The 0 is replaced by a .
The path to an external runtime called V4-Clothing02 is being corrupted to:
C:GrafixContentV4Clothing02Runtimetextures...
The - is replaced by a .
I am Vista 64-bit.

Thank you! You are very kind.
If you have trouble with the link remove the index.htm off the end, worked for me.
Thread: Looking for TV studio props | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Not sure about here but Fober has a very good complete studio set up on sharecg - it has CAMERA, TRIPOD, DOLLY, RAILS, LIGHT, MICROPHONE, HEADPHONES, DIRECTORS CHAIR, CLAPPER, MIXER/CUTTER WORKSTATION plus poses, and its free.

It looks like you have an apostrophe in the path to your runtime, it might be having a problem with that.
Thread: getting lots of texture error messages in poser 8 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well this is really annoying!
I thought I had better do the right thing and raise an incident at SM about this so I opened up Poser 8 to get the correct error message and what do you know - every texture loaded fine - no errors at all!
It is only temporary though, I know from past experience that it works sometimes and then breaks again. It is just playing with me!
I'd rather it didn't work at all than work when it feels like it. At least that would make tracking down the cause easier.

I am having this problem too and as you say it makes Poser 8 unusable. Sometimes it finds textures but more often than not it doesn't.
I have deep search set and have checked the .cr2/pz2 files and all of the paths are relative. Not sure if it has anything to do with it but I am on Vista 64-bit with UAC turned off.
One thing you can do, once you have located all of the textures that Poser 8 can't find, is use the python script 'collectSceneInventory' (Scripts > Utility) to save the scene and all of the textures that it uses in a folder. Next time you can open the scene from there without 'can't find texture' errors. Too much work for me though.
I have now given up with Poser 8 and am sticking with Poser Pro where textures from the same external runtimes load fine. I hope this isn't going to be an issue in Poser Pro 2010?

Thank you very much Lululee for bringing this amazing tool to my attention.
I was really struggling with the small icons in Poser 8 and not only does XL remedy that it also gives you so much more!
The ability to load and conform multiple items at the same time is itself worth the price.
SM should hire Dimension3D or at least get them in as a consultant (IMHO).
Now if I can only stop these intermittent 'can't load texture' errors I will be a very happy Poser 8 owner.
Thread: Poser 8... First Impressions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well this isn't going as well as I expected.
I am also getting the "Texture could not be loaded" error on any texture poses that I try to load from the external runtimes. Textures from the Poser Pro runtime, which I also added, load ok.
My external runtimes work fine in Poser Pro, no problems with loading textures there.
I am running on Vista 64bit and I have tried installing the Poser 8 content in the standard location and also in the same location as my external runtimes just to see if that would help but it didn't.
I am really struggling with the small icons in the library too. I guess the people who designed this are all blessed with good eyesight! It's a shame they didn't give a bit of thought to the 'more mature' users who's eyes ain't what they used to be.

Thanks for the update and info Eagle66.
Actually this is no longer a problem, I installed the latest 7.4 build and now the poser animations are no longer wiped by new vue keyframing.
