No, it's not about M3. I can't even export a simple sphere; same issues in both versions... :(
I've also tried restoring the installation from a hard disk backup, but that doesn't solve the problem either.
Dammit! Where did I put my installation CDs when I moved...?
Thread: Paypal ?? (OT) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
But the Paypal payment does show up in your Paypal account? I am just asking this because at a certain point of time during the payment process, you get to a site which looks as if a payment has been made, but the bottom right side has a button "Make payment" (or so), which you still have to click before the payment is done. So... if the payment does not show up in your history, then you can safely assume that you did not make the payment because you simply did not see the button on that particular payment page ;-) Best wishes, Sabine
Thread: ...HACKER (S) Working the Renderosity Marketplace? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Alright... have to say a few things. First, the evil people who all have nothing else to do but trying to get hold of your computer via the net are not hackers, they are called crackers or scriptkiddies. Second. If you are 'browsing Renderosity', you are not only only 'browsing Renderosity'. Your computer is permanently connected to the net at that moment, with its own IP address which usually is given to you by your ISP for the time you're online. If you severe the connection and dial in anew, you will probably have a different IP address, because those are given away dynamically. And that's where those 'attacks' often come from: Imagine someone else has the IP 1235 and is playing an online game, which identifies him by his IP address. Now that playing person turns off the computer. The IP 1235 is available again. If you now dial in and your ISP gives that 1235 to you. The game server is still 'looking' if the player at 1235 is present by sending data packets to him. And now - surprise - your firewall pops up with something like 'Attempted Intrusion "TCP_violent_gameserver" against your machine was detected and blocked' - even if you were 'just' checking your emails or browsing Renderosity. See what this is about? Of course, there is the faint possibility that someone is doing a portscan on your computer - with a billion possible IPs to scan, this is still more unlikely than being struck by lightning. But that would not result in one, but in possibly several thousand messages from your firewall... And if your ports are correctly configured, you don't need to be afraid (but then you also would not need a firewall, right...?). But then there's still another possibility: the server of Renderosity has caught a virus or worm. That, however, would be, let's say, rather not so good....
Thread: P5 transmapping -- basic problem. Help! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A good trick for knowing where you will want to paint holes into the transmap: Render the catsuit with SnowSultan's colorful seamguide for it as a colormap, render several pictures that will show you which seams are where (don't forget at least two 'full renders' which allow you to see the seamguide completely on the catsuit!) and save them to your harddisk. Now, when painting the transmap, do that as a layer over the original seamguide, always comparing with the reference pictures you've rendered. As it seems, you have confused the front of the catsuit on the seamguide with the side, that's all... and that can't happen if you had reference images on how the seamguide works...
Thread: How fast computer to handle P5 animation? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just out of curiosity: Why do you want it faster? As it was already said, we're not talking about rendering a low poly, low texture game rendering here. We're talking about a program processing a few ten to hundred thousand polygons, perhaps different light sources, Raytracing, several image maps for textures, transparencies and so on which can without problems all together be ten thousand square pxels large - and that program mixes them all together to pictures - one by one by one. Why do you expect it to be faster? Where have you seen a machine rendering such an animation faster?

Karen, I think you perhaps misinterpret the story. Here's what I think what happened: Caydee came to Renderosity, looked up the Freestuff, found a texture for the boots believing those are the boots, followed the link in freestuff, downloaded that boots texture package from that site (which, as you certainly know, can also be included as a site link in the freestuff instead of a direct *.zip link) - and that was basically it. Matching the story is a file in freestuff called "DAZ MorphBoots to V3" by Netherworks, which then leads to his site. We could know more if she would finally manage to open the *.zip file, because I'm almost certain there's a readme within that file. However, there are two things bothering me here about that story. First, no one in the world able to turn on a computer, surf the net and operate certain programs has never heard of a *.zip file. I am sorry, but that part of the story is unbelievable. The second thing is that if you compare what I have written above about what could have happened with what Caydee wrote, then you could get the impression my guess was right. And I am, honestly, a bit surprised that it seems as if no one (me included!) went to the free stuff until now to look up "MorphBoots". Instead, a crowd of "Warez! Warez!" shouting, pitchfork waving people appears and shys away the newbie. But of course, that's all just my opinion and a possibility about what could have happened.

all I know is that I followed a link from Your Own website From whose own website? From here - Renderosity - or which?

THERE'S A LOT OF SADNESS IN THE WORLD! Right now, as you read this, 17 Million people are having SEX!!! And look at you - you're on the computer!!!! ...ever heard of Cybersex...? Wonderful thing: Keeps diseases, relationship problems and unwanted pregnancies away... Plus, if it's boring, you can turn the monitor off without ever having to sleep on the sofa for doing so ;-)
Thread: Can anyone help me make a Seam guide | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yu're very welcome... you know, I have not been born with that knowledge either, and instead of playing around for six years, I could have well spared some time if I would have asked and someone would have explained it to me ;-) And I don't see why I should not help other people to spare that time...
Thread: Can anyone help me make a Seam guide | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oh, and P.S.: An own character is something different then an own figure. An own character is, basically, a modification of an existing figure, may it be V3 or M3 or any other; may it be by morphing, mapping, transmapping or anything likely. An own figure, however, is something that you've entirely modeled as a 3D object in a program suitable for this (like Wings, 3DSMax or likely), and which you then have transported to Poser, 'boned' it and so on....
Thread: Can anyone help me make a Seam guide | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I can not use the seamguides from snowsultan if i have changes some of the dials, can I? Sure you can. The dials don't change the vertices in the figure, they just change their placement. However, the mapping will remain the same. No matter which character pack for V3 you see in the market place - they all use the same mapping; no matter if they look young or old or thin or fat or whatever... I know it's difficult to understand in the beginning, but for example a V3 with eyes closed uses the same mapping as one with open eyes, even if the seamguide 'looks' as if the eyes were open all the time. You have to squeeze the look of a 'closed eye' into the tiny space above the 'opened eye' on the seamguide. Once you've found out how it really works, however, it's OK to work with. Now I am just wondering if I am dooing anythin illeagal? No, you're just wanting to do more work then necessary... Strong suggestion from me: Learn about how mapping, the object, morphs, dials, MATS, Poses and so on play together before creating a new character, otherwise you will face big problems (or misunderstandings, as in this case) before you've finished your character ;-)

Hmmm.
To me (but perhaps that's just me) this list doesn't necessarily look like a completely new figure. It looks as if it was Unimesh mapping - ike V3 or M3 or S3petite.
In that case, the following parts belong 'together' (But you could also have seen that by looking at the (very good!) seamguides by SnowSultan for these figures):
Bodymat:
Nipples
Skinarm
Skinfeet
Skinforarm
Skinhand
Skinhip
Skinleg
Skinneck
Skintorso
Fingernails
Toenails
Headmat:
Eyesocket
Lips
Innermouth
Lacrimal
Nostrils
Skinscalp
Skinhead
Tounge
Eyebrows / lashes / pubic:
Eyebrows
Eyelashes
Pubichair
Gums & teeth:
Gums
Teeth
Eyes (Left side and right side can be seperated):
LEyewhite
LIris
LPupil
REyewhite
Riris
Rpupil
And the Corneas (which usually don't have a map, but certain values of transparency and reflection):
Lcornea
Rcornea
But as I have said - these are the 'mapping values' for the Unimesh figures. Some, like 'TheGirlv3' also have some more parts - but to me the above list looks like V3, not an own character....

Caydee, is it possible that you have downloaded a texture set for those boots? Because if what you downloaded is a *.zip file, then it can't be the boots by DAZ - as Karen already said, these come as *.exe files. May I ask where you downloaded what you downloaded and what the exact name and description was?
Thread: be wary of this very clever trojan/dropper mail | Forum: Community Center
Plus Zone alarm seems to stop the use of 1x1 web-bugs. And how would it do that? The request for the 1-square-pixel-image comes from inside your email program, which has access to the net... BTW, what's the exact use of ZoneAlarm? If you have caught a trojan, do you indeed believe that this would try to "phone home" by its real name? (ZoneAlarms message:) "Hi, this is the evil trojan IWILLHACKYOU trying to access the internet. Do you want to allow this?" Don't you think that the question asked by Zonealarm could possibly look much more like this, if the cracker who wrote that particular trojan was not totally dumb: "Hi, this is the INTERNET EXPLORER (YOURMAILSOFTWARE, WINDOWS-UPDATE...) trying to access the internet. Do you want to allow this?" Perhaps something to think about...
Thread: Paypal disliked | Forum: Community Center
ALL other paypal accounts MUST have a credit card. Not right. In Germany, you just need a bank account. His bank called him up one day, and asked him if he had authorized three separate charges to his debit card for $500.00 each. Needless to say, my Un-Paranoid friend suddenly decided that installing a hardware firewall, backed up by a software firewall, was a really good idea. Perhaps he should rather check if he has dropped any credit card bills into a wastebin. These bills also contain all the numbers necessary, and an employee of a shop which has a credit card payment system or a cracker who can fake a card or even anyone having internet to do online purchases in stores that don't require the 3-digit-number on the backside can use these numbers on the card to spend money with them. Also it's well possible if he ever gave the card from his hands (e. g. to a shop employee, to pull it through a scanner) that the card was simply copied during that process by the employee. Frankly, I don't imagine that anyone would be 'visited' by a cracker on his PC who then steals the (openly saved???) credit card information. BTW, openly saving credit card numbers on a PC has nothing to do with 'not being paranoid', but with being 'careless'. Not only a cracker who emerges from the internet but also someone who would break into the appartment and steal the PC would be a risk then.... (same as saving passwords on the PC or simply letting 'Windows Explorer' save said passwords...). Just the debit card. PayPal and every other store I shop at use it just fine. Sure. Unless something happens to you that has happened to so many people who, at some point of time, find themselves in the forums of www.paypalsucks.com ....
