When Bryce first imports an obj file from Poser4 it will have all the textures applied to the individual parts of the figure HOWEVER if you try and change one it will apply that texture to the whole figure. I assuming you're referring to Spike's tutorial on Zone5, I've used his technique of grouping the individual meshes of a multitextured figure into families very successfully. It's a very time consuming task but the end result more than justifies it. Once you've grouped the various parts of the figure into families you can just select that family and apply the correct texture. One thing I do that Spike didn't suggest is that after grouping all the clothing into families I then select 'all meshes' then deselect all the clothing families leaving me with just the skin meshes which I then assign to their own family. This is only sensible if you've just got the one figure in the scene but I tend to texture the figures in separate br4 files and either merge them together or save them as an object for use in the main image. Hope this helps...I'm perfectly happy to explain further if this doesn't make sense. -Tony
Thread: Bryce 3D vs. Bryce 4? | Forum: Bryce
On the surface they do appear to be the same but the Sky Lab has apparently been completely rewritten (not just the UI but the code that does the hard work as well). I hadn't got into Bryce3D that deeply before upgrading to 4 but the main things I noticed were the improved render speeds and when a Poser figure was imported the meshes were named (ie head1 instead of meshX). Initially I was slightly disappointed with the upgrade as it didn't appear to have many obvious new features (certainly nothing as spectacular as the upgrade from Poser 3 to 4) but now I've dug deeper into it's capabilities I would definitely recommend you go for the upgrade. -Tony

Very good work but it does look 'overexposed', try lowering the ambient lighting, particularly on the trees and rocks. This image shows you have the vision to create some interesting Bryce images. -Tony

I'd upload with the textures/materials applied, when you don't know your way round Bryce too well it could be very frustrating trying to apply the correct materials. Thanks for sharing your work. -Tony
Thread: HELP HELP HELP :: where to get Poser and Bryce in England!? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If your using v3 of Poser & Bryce then you can get the upgrades to v4 in the UK from Computers Unlimited (the upgrade is the full version CDs and manual just minus the box). Their web site is http://www.unlimited.com/ or you can phone them on 0208 358 5855. -Tony
Thread: web page-anything missing? | Forum: Bryce
It's would be a good idea to use the height and width tags on the thumbnails so the browsers can tell how to lay the page out before the images have loaded. It will give the site that professional touch. As for credits, play safe and put them on. I doubt anyone would complain but I feel that the people who give us all this great free stuff to play with deserve a mention. Of course that does rely on you having a good indexing system on your HD so you know where everything came from! I use Image Ready 2.0 and it can compress a jpg to oblivion if you want to! What I aim for is a maximum size of 100k for a 640x480 image, it all depends on how the compression deteriorates the image, if too many artifacts appear I'll let the file size increase. Pan - Colm's talking about a new (not a re-printed) Photoshop Special. It came out here in the UK about the same time as the CA38 issue. Lots of Plug-in demos on the CD. -Tony

The P4 textures have a different mapping to the P3 ones so they are not interchangeable. Try the Strike A Pose website (link is on the left under Web Resources), I used their textures a lot in Poser3. -Tony

I'm at the Micogames website at the moment in 'download heaven'. Great to see the P4 male finally getting some great textures. Many thanks to the Micogames crew. -Tony
