I forgot. Smith Micro says that Poser 6 is NOT compatable with windows 7. So for those of you still running Poser 6, what can I say.

I just received this from Smith Micro, 2:30am ET, buddy that was quick. Anyway I followed the information and it worked. So if nothing else, should someone else have the same problem, just click on the link. Never had this problem with Vista so I never knew about it.
Thread: Lights | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just a little update. I was playing in Poser and found that if you create more than 8 lights in a scene the ninth will be out, and it doesen't matter what light you create. the magic number is no more than eight, at least if you want a glow effect from your point lights. Also the color box that comes up when choosing a color, if you hover to long, more than likely the light will be white but if you choose your color at a faster rate you'll get your color. Also I used the color box whis is on the top right hand corner of the color pop up and you can keep it ope for as long as you want, whatever color you choose you'll get your color, at least I did.

LaurieA, you hit the nail right on the heaad with light colors. I just dld an update to my video card and now if I hover over the light colors Poser DOESEN'T white out, my colors are still there but I have to choose my color twice ie: first click I end up wih a white light but if I choose the same color and click on it a second time it works, I guess it has something to do with the video drivers, I could be wrong though. Try updating your video drivers, if you haven't already and see what happens.
But as far as the lights are concerned I canget up to eight point lights before the ninth goes out. It's rather frustrating when you're so close and work so long to have something look good just to have the lights go out. And I don't thing it has to do with memory either cause I got 4gig 'course Vista 32 only sees 3 and my hard drive is a 500gig so the swap file is quite large, oh well, I'll just keep trying till I get it right, that is if I don't go crazy trying first.
Thread: PzDB vs P3dO | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually I've got both P3dO Pro and PzDB(trial). Of both, I like P3dO best. Now PzDB is a good program but I find that it won't work with older DAZ products as they don't have a png file for it to see so you're missing a lot of thumbnails were as P3dO reads just about everything to include obj. files I found that if you click on an obj file P3dO will come up with the object pic and render it, granted it's not textured but you can actually see what the object is. I don't know if the free version of P3dO has this capability but I know the Pro has and I bought Pro.
I was just curious as what ppl were using for their databases. I know they just about have to have something other than relying on their runtimes folders thats why I asked.
Thread: PzDB vs P3dO | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well to be honest, I would like a database but if you can manipulate the content as well I'll take it. I've only got 21gigs of stuff and I know that there are ppl out there that have much much more than I do and to be honest my little bit of stuff really gets me frustrated because I really don't know what is in what. I like to SEE what's really in the files. I'm in the process of creating external runtimes which I think will help but a database of everything in the files would be great.
I should have been more specific when I firts posted, sorry about that.

First off I would like to say thank you for your input. Since reading your replys I am going to take esters advice and just install some stuff and play arround and see how it works and timag, no you didn't miss my point at all. Thanks again.
Thread: Multiple Runtimes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As I look at ester and timags examples, basically the way the folders are laid out is the same way I have mine the only differance being is yours is installed where mine are in exe or zip.
When I acquire content I always take a screen shot of what the content is (jpg) and I also put what model(s), figure etc it goes to and if necessary I also put other info such as if it requires other content to creat that piticular item for example Rowan for V4. To make this model it requires 3 other products to come up with model on the jpg of Rowan I put what is required whioch is ac2519 - Courageous for V4/A4, ac1957 - V4 Hooded Cloak and ac2022 - V4 Morphing Cloak and Cape. Now if I were to go to external runtimes, would I have to put all three of these together and call it , lets say "Poser-V4-Rowan". I realize that most of the content only requires 1 file, lets say V4 Hooded Cloak, but Rowan requires 3 items to creat the model. How do you know what files are required to creat Rowan? Am I getting to pickey? I hope not, I'm just curious. Cause if you just install Rowan into Poser and go to Poses, Rowan is there but nothing happens in Poser if you click on the Icon. Please bear with me, I'm trying to find out answers about Multiple RunTimes.
Thread: Multiple Runtimes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually what I was trying to do was to find out if it is really worth installing all the content to multiple runtimes. I have my content in folders under the specific model and broken down into clothes, morphs etc. (all EXE or ZIP). When I decide what I want in regards to a particular scene or model, I install those items into a folder which I call "Installed", this folder resides on my Poser HD which is " D " drive. I then point Poser to this folder and start composing. My thinking by doing this is if I decide I want to keep everything together I can zip the folder with the jpg of what I've done and put it away. After I'm done I just delete the "Install" folder, make another and start on something else. I try to keep it as simple as possible realizing the ammount of content for Poser is enormous annd the content just keeps on growing. Also inregards to updates, it's much easier to install the item and then the update rather than looking or trying to remember where it is in my runtime folders. I have to admit my memory leaves a little bit to be desired.

I hate to say this but I'm kinda new at Poser, so is there a tutorial or something explaining how to do semi-transparancy inother words how do you make something semi-transparent in Poser
Thread: Which Poser Database do you use and reccommend? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use EXCELL. I find it user friendly and it does what it's supposed to do, keep track of records. You could try 3D Content Database from DAZ (ps_ap178b) but I think there is a limit to the ammount of data that you can put into one database, so that means if you have a lot of files you may have to create more than one database
Thread: Did You Feel it? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I live right outside of Fort Knox. I myself didn't feel a thing because I had gone to bed at 1:30 and was dog tired. After waking up at 11:30 my wife asked me if I had felt the quake, nope I haden't felt a thing. The news came on at 12 and reported that the quake reached 5.2(had been reported earlier as being 5.4) and that at 11:14 there was an aftershock which reached 4.5. I guess one of these days I'll feel an earthquake, on second thought no thank you.
Thread: OT - seeking 1TB hd recommendations | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I would think the best hard drive to buy is the one which is going to give you the least MTFB(Mean time between failures), price and don't forget the warranty, granted the warranty is not going to replace the data you lost but it will replace the hard drive which can get a little pricy especially on the 1TB range. Needless to say all this info can be gotten from the manufacturers site. Good Luck

Well, I solved the problem of the phantom line being missing. I can only fall back on the fact that as you get older(and in my case I'm older than dirt) you have a tendency of forgetting things. Well, I THOUGHT that I had installed SR2, cause usually I install anything that has to do with a fix or whatever, well I found that I had neglected to install SR2. After installing, guess what, the line WAS THERE. all fixed. Now I have to aopolgize for making such a todo about it. My fault. I could have saved a lot of time if I would have remembered to go to : HELP, ABOUT POSER and found what version number I was running. The version should be 7.02.127 after SR2 is installed. Now does anyone have any salt, this dirt tastes kind of bland!
