Since replacing the bad ram i had last week, I decided to see how big a file i could make and Bryce still be usable. The pic is not all that great and I prob wont do anything further with it. This puppy weighed in at 190 megs, 2 hour 8 min render. I really could have gotten away with far fewer trees but was pushing. Took almost a full minute for wire frame redraws afer a move

no postowrk, I really had more ideas, but it could be done with prob 1/3 the trees, and made it less painful (timewise) BTW trees from 3dcafe

only in open Gl and redraw not rendering. I copied this from another thread .I use this as a way to save memory and other stuff from running in the background but this was posted by "ART" in another thread. < For what it's worth, I ran taskinfo (a program to check system resources, then took a hardcopy of Windows (normal), then while running Poser. Although it wasn't truly scientific due to delay in swapping between apps, it did show an increase of 40% of CPU and other processes while running Poser. The old Ctrl-Alt-Del only shows a few apps that are available. To get the real scoop on what your computer loaded at / during startup, do the following: Start>Run> Type in:MSCONFIG and click OK. Tell it CUSTOM, then select the Startup tab. You will be shown ALL the goodies that are loaded when your computer boots up. It may scare you!! Aside from a wheelmouse /pointer & graphics tablet (if you have one, you only need SYSTRAY & SCANREGISTRY! Uncheck all others and Apply. You may have to reboot. After reboot, try Poser or Bryce and let me know your results. This will at least tell if your machine was running too many processes in the background. Hope this helps, - Art ->

only 2 hours to render? That's not bad. I desperately need more RAM, I'm running on 64 and it sucks

Talent is God's gift to you. Using it is your gift to God.
