Subject: Difference between V3 and V2?

Now that V3 has been out for some time now and all you fine people have had time to play with her, I'd like to ask:

Besides the higher vertice/polygon count and newer morphs, what's the difference between V3 and V2? I still notice the same joint problems (elbows and knees) in some renders.

I wish CL would do a complete re-write of Poser 6 (hah! one day...) that revamps how it treats the body structure to something like that used by the makers of Shrek. They have the skeleton and attach muscles to it before covering with skin. Makes for more natural, realistic poses with no "hard manniquin" look to the joints.

This'll invalidate all our existing Poser models and piss everyone off, probably, but in the long run, the realism and natural poses will more than compensate.

Just my 2 cents.

I'd love to have a program that would create fluid movement like the Shrek characters... but I imagine the computer power necessary to run such complex software would be cost prohibitive.

Big change is the entire figure is designed around using Joint-Controled-Morphs to make mor natural operation, I think (talking as a customer) DAZ did a superb job. They also redid a lot of the morphs, I think, and while they have the same names as the old they work in a more realistic manner. The hi-poly count is nice, but it is really a means to the end, nota big plus in itself, some very high poly count models neither pose or render any better than Vickie. Let me suggest she isn't perfect, but she is a major, major improvement. Let me also suggest that some of the "bad" renders you see either weren't posed correctly (her joints have to be operted in a different manner for best results) or are the V3/V2 version. The downside, of course, is she needs a whole new wardrobe. And let me say, as I finish up the "Glamorous Vickie" set (based on V3) that properly operating clothing is tougher to make (or rather fit). Some clothing makers might not be up to the task! ;-)

Re: Shrek models. you'd be surprised, Even tho they run on SGIs, the Pentiums and AMDs have managed to narrow the performance gap, so having a 2GHz P4 or something like that would see you through as far as horsepower is concerned. Thanks for the info on V3. Reason why I asked was to see if it's worth upgrading... but I realise I haven't fully explored V2 yet, plus there's the need to get new clothes for V3... I think I'll stick with my investments for now. Re: the bad joints and poses, I agree. I'm an artist myself so I'm really sensitive about all this. makes me frustrated when I'm posing the figures. Not easy to get natural looking poses, and the inelsticity of the Poser figures don't help. That's why I'm dreaming (fantasising) of a Shrek-like modeller/renderer program. I notice the "twisting" effect on V3's left shoulder. Several people have mentioned this "effect". And, of course, the high poly count just gobbles up RAM and slows down the system...
