Hi, Well, Im not a MAC person at all but, The only differance in the shaders is something the MAC needs in the file like Author and something else.... Man - I know that was a big help. But the shader format is the same except for some extras that the mMAC needs. These extras are something that is part of every MAC file. Maybe this will help get some MAC users to tell us what these file variables are... Someone at MC converted my Shades of Reality shader pack from PC to MAC by adding the few things that the MAC needs to each of the PC files. Pretty lame explination but thats about all I know... Thanks for responding Clint. Your comments jarred my memory banks about creator and type codes in Mac files. I opened a few of the shader files in a conversion utility and added that information. Seemed to work fine. Now, I'll see if I can get the tutorial files to work. I finally have Carrara running in semi-stable fashion, after applying appropriate amounts of swearing, voodoo and alien intervention. I should have something to post soon. mclarsen
Excellent. I was hopping that would be enough info for a MAC user to run with on this. Great news! Hope to hear back from you soon. Regards, Clint

It amazes me that so many "Marketers" of products would overlook at least 1/2 (if not more) of their potential market. If you look at the download stats for PC VS MAC files they are almost 2 to 1. Due to the iMac I've noticed more & more new MAC users who are asking questions regarding file conversion questions on various sites. Platform wars are a dead end, we can learn just as much regarding program techniques used on any system. It's to our collective advantage that publishers are aware of that.
Is it that really such a big deal to put a Mac format on there too? Or do marketeers feel that Mac users are cash cows waiting to be milked? "Please can we have it in Mac format SIR? Sure Johnny, but that'll cost you a little more." I don't even bother with non-Mac format anymore. After Microsoft breaks up, you can bet on even more problems then before.

I just got the Carrara Bible a few days ago, and just now started into it. Much to my chagrin, The book and CD are written specifically for the PC version (I'm on a Mac), yet this was not mentioned in any of the publicity or descriptions. I'm not sure why the Mac version is ignored in a publication that calls itself "...BIBLE" since there is obviously a Mac user base for this program and, in fact, most of the core Metacreations line came out for the Mac first (Poser, Ray Dream, Bryce, Infini-D, etc.). Regardless, Carrara is almost identical on both platforms so using the book to dive further into the program is quite useful and almost justifies the price of the book. I can view the animations on the CD and can open the .bmp texture files in Photoshop to use, but I cannot make the Carrara shaders work. Does anyone have a suggestion for converting the shaders from PC to Mac or is this even possible? mclarsen
