Subject: Poser4/ strange?

Been messing around with poser4, for about 3 months now. from what I've learned so far; The program isn't very logical. The format is strange and VERY frustrating. I have all kinds of add-ons(DAZ stuff mostly). For an artist though, the program seems restrictive. How do I make my own models? If I have to use another program to make a model, then what do I even need poser4, for? After three months, I'm completely disappointed and frustrated. I've seen some great poser art posted, but all poser seems to be, is a render engine. Can't even design my own backgrounds or props, without using ANOTHER program? I have that plus much more, with just Bryce5. Back to my favorite; Bryce5, where everything is possible and my models can be imported or created, IN THE PROGRAM. Not trying to offend anyone, but I feel like I wasted my time on Poser. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Poser is only useful if you work with models of human beings or animals. If you just use terrains, primitives or mechanical objects, Bryce 5 is all right. But you cannot take an OBJ model of a human being and change its position easily in Bryce. Poser is just a tool. As for any tool , it can do some things very well and others not. Basically, the question is : what do you want to do ? Compiler

Well, I want to have a program that lets me model my own animals and humans, IN ONE program. Poser lets me pose other peoples artwork(in a very frustrating format), but I am not able to create my own organics. I've come pretty close with Bryce metaballs and lattices. I hope to eventually model an animal with just bryce5. That to me, is the true, challenge and reward. Poser doesn't seem to offer a rewarding experience. Ever noticed that, everybody using poser, uses that same TOO perfect looking Michael. No offense. I really enjoy, some of the poser creatures I see(humanoids and robots)! Crasher is one of my favorite poser artists, because of her originality. I do have rhino 3D, but it looks scary and confusing. With bryce I'm not trying to manipulate a bunch of screens from an outside view. In bryce, it's as if I'm inside of a three dimensional landscape grabbing objects and placing them in a first person perspective. Poser looks similar until you try to grab something to manipulate then everything is unstable and too touchy. There is no logic in how the controls work. I'm scared to purchase poser5. P4 is no fun for me.

Well Poser is not, and has never been advertised as, a MODELLING program. Actually neither is Bryce, so good luck modelling an animal with Bryce. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying that it's not what the program is meant for. Modelling programs are stuff like Anim8or or WinGS (both free) or the real big boys like Maya, 3D Studio MAX, Lightwave, Carrara, or Amapi. Some versions of Amapi is free as well I think. Could never make heads or tails of that proggie though :o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
