Subject: HELP I have made an invisible prop!!!!!!!!

Okay, I made a prop in Cinema, imported it into Poser 4, with a lot of help, mostly from maclean (thank you) made a phi file to go with my new obj file and now have a wonderful invisible prop. It has a picture in the library, I can apparently move it around the place, I just can't see it. What on earth have I done wrong? Shanna, considering tearing her hair out, but actually still having fun. :-)

Have you tried reversing the normals? It could be that the visibility is inside-out, so to speak.

What size was it when you imported it? You may be inside it since the scale in the Poser universe is different. (Each modeling program has its own scale.) Import it at 100% in the center of your universe and see if it is visible. Alternatively, switch to the aux camera and dolly way out if your prop is a building or spaceship or such.

It COULD also be a typo in the cr2. so that it can't find the obj. This is what happens if there's a type afaik: A seemingly working thing that just isn't there.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

OK shanna, Assuming that the 2 pieces were the correct size when you exported them, and that you didn't check any options on export other than the 1st one, it sounds like a PHI/cr2 error. First of all, you imported the PHI file and added 'New Set' to the library. Then you double-clicked 'New Set' to open it, right? Did you see your bottle/brush and then resave it? In other words, was it there originally and disappeared afterwards, or was it never there? In my experience, when the figure is invisible, it's a PHI error. Some things to try. Select BODY and increase the Scale to 1000%. You might see something. Delete the original Mascara.rsr in Geometries and import the PHI file again. Try it and let me know. mac PS It could be a normals problem, which you can fix by using the 6th option on import (Make normals consistent)

PS I seem to remember seeing your PHI file say something like objFile:Runtime:Geometries:shanna:mascara ie. without .obj on the end. I'm assuming that was a typo in the post, because it should, of course, be objFile:Runtime:Geometries:shanna:mascara.obj Just a thought. Sometimes we overlook the obvious. mac
