Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 27 9:18 am)
wotdoin,Could be wrong, but it sounds like you have Vue d'Esprit. If that is the case, you need to stay with Poser4/ProPack,as Poser5 still does not import directly into Vue. Compaired to Vue,the four view windows in Poser are very small and hard to see a large scene. For this reason I never use the four views in ProPack, but use the shortcut keys to change the camera view(like ctrl t,for top camera). This is very fast, and with a much better/larger image to compose with(and with ProPack selling for $199.00...alot cheaper). SWAMP
If Vue is an issue, I'd definitely stick with Pro Pack. Although it doesn't have the Firefly Rendering Engine P5 has (which is much better by the way) Vue renders Poser figures very well, plus you have more lighting options. Lighting is one thing that didn't change from PP or P4, unless you count the atmospheres (which not many people know how to utilize yet because there is a startling lack of documentation. The Firefly Renderer is the only thing that I've found exceptional about P5. PPP is easier to use and if you don't care about growing hair, dynamic cloth, or the face room you probably would be just as happy.
I have P4, PPP, P5, VUE, Bryce, World Builder and some others, but If I had to have just ONE of them it would be Poser 5 WITHOUT QUESTION. Firefly is great once you tweak the default settings PLUS you have the PPP renderer in P5, and Firefly is better than VUE renderer hands down (again, after you learn to set it up properly). VUE has great atmospheres and is a bit more Poser-friendly than Bryce, but Bryce has great lighting and makes the best scenics. In the long run, each has it's own merits, and you will probably end up with them all, but for now, Poser 5 is the best thing to start with (unless you really need export to lightwave or maya - and if you have them why mess with Poser anyway ---- just kidding :-)) I still use PPP even though I have P5, but because of the low price on P5 I would buy it over PPP and wait for the P5 ProPack or 3rd party plugins if you need those export functions.

Hello Everyone, I want to get either pro pack or P5 because I need to have more than just the one view in P4. I want to be able to view my scene 2 or more ways (like in Vue) at the same time, like front and side etc. Which of the programs will do that? I am kind of leary about getting P5 because of all the problems with the install and stuff. Thanks, Debbie
