Pretty cool but I have a couple of suggestions: 1. it took me some thinking to realize the part at the left was a bad guy reflected in his own blade. Maybe we should see a little more of him, like the hand holding the blade or his back? 2. This is one of the brighter caves I've seen. There's not a sense of menace in the environment, just in the people. If the cave was more drippy, dark, and claustrophobic the sense of peril would be greater. 3. the shadows are wack. The guy in the doorway has a shadow behind him, but the guy on the floor's is in front of him. The reflected guy doesn't cast one into the picture...where is the light coming from? 4. The blue wall above the reflection-sword is different from the greenish walls of the rest, which adds to the cognitive problem in perceiving what the deal is with the reflective sword. It doesn't look like it's part of the same cave plus the reflect sword divides it off a lot. 5. so, overall the guy on the floor and the guy in the door work real well, except for their shadows (and I don't like the glowing-condom sword thing either...lol!). The cave works ok, but the coloring is inconsistent and it's not very scary in and of itself. The guy in the foreground with the sword doesn't work, but is a great idea and would work if he was physically more integrated with the scene. All just my humble op, of course! Mary/Canary
heya; while it was loading, i thought the eye/reflection was a montage/superimposed thing, too, but then i saw it was a blade. though it looks like it has rounded things on the edge, which is strange. the composition of the figures is good. there's a huge chunk of empty space over on the right, crop that out. :) also, driz'zt (thats him, right?) seems to be staring down at his hand. he should be looking up at the guy walking in. the lighting is tricky, try isolating each figure. whatshisname in the doorway would be dark against a bright moon, but with a green glow on him from the sword. (it would look less like a lightsaber if the glow were behind the sword, instead of 'in front' of it, you know?) drizzt should probably be front lit by a blueish silver glow -- or as he is now. the guy on the floor... either hit him with the moonlight or the green glow from the other guy's sword. (or both if you want to get tricky.) i agree with marycanary :) darken up the cave and make it less visible. remember less is more!
Okay, here's my opinion, for what it's worth. The problem is that all the light comes from the sword. Behind the guy there's a section of sky with a moon, which not only looks VERY fake, but gives no light. My opinion--put a more realistic, darker sky behind the cave, and make the moon a light source.
I'm gonna have to agree with the above. Also, definitely cut down the light coming from the swords' glows.. both intensity and falloff.. The glow effect on Entreri's sword is too strong.. it should be sort of a glowing nimbus around it, rather than overpowering the entire thing.. (you should be able to see the blade itself.) I'd put some ominous clouds in the background, perhaps, and definitely have some moonlight coming in.. And, as above, darken the entire scene up. Great start though, Rosh
How did you do yours? If I were doing it in Bryce, I'd take something like the green light beam material in Complex effects and apply it to a scaled-up blade and have the normal blade underneath. Or you could just add some color to the Marley's Ghost material instead. Alternatively, in photoshop, you could apply a Glow effect (eye candy plugin) and play with settings till you get the right look. Good luck Rosh
