Subject: objects & figures intersecting but not showing both inside?

Re attached pic. The boat is a figure and the water an object.The boat is set into the water & as you can see the water is rendered visble inside the boat. Which as you can guess is not what I`m after. The boat has windows & doors which allows you to see inside the boat. I`m using P5 & the murky water material for the water. It is my intention to create an animation. Any suggestions/ideas to overcome this problem?

The only thing I would suggest is for a magnet deformer set to warp the "water" surface along the boat's path, so that it is just inside the "walls" of the boat's hull... then move and rotate the magnet with the boat, so the deformation accompanies it, and the water and boat don't visibly intersect.

Another idea would be to create a custom-built water prop with a pre-made "hole" for the boat to fit into, and parent the water prop to the boat. Then when you move the boat, the water prop will move with it, and the boat will thus always stay safely inside the "dry" hole.

If you're using Pro pack or Poser 5, Ockham has actually made a python script for exactely this, to put a boat into water. Try seaching in Free Stuff for Deformer. This is what you need. Oh and if you are using poser 4... I guess a custom made water surface with a hole...

you might be able to use the grouping tool to remove selected polys in water object that are showing up inside the boat.select new group name,switch to wireframe,select allpolys,remove polys not wanted,create new prop.

You could use a transmap on the water object to make a "hole" shaped like the boat's hull. Or, if you wanted to get really tricky, you could use extreme displacement.

Just an update. I tried the deformer. Wouldnt work I suspect it is because the boat mesh doesnt confirm exactly with the Poser rules. Tried using it as a cloth but couldn`t get it to work correctly. So I went back to creating morph targets for different frames which is working ok.
