This guy is AWESOME! I've always wanted to model little critters and cartoon characters like this one. Would you mind posting a wireframe image of the metaballs used to make him? Or email it to andy@bettermagic.com if you don't want to post it. I need to get the feel for character modeling with metaballs if I'm ever going to do more of it!
That's funny. What is he guarding the ball (egg?) from? Definitely looks distraught... LOL!
Your friendly neighborhood Wings3D nut.
Also feel free to browse my freebies at ShareCG.
There might be something worth downloading.
first thought I had was 'nooooo problem!'..;) Interesting..could be done in a modelling program..have to try something like that someday..I'm impressed by the number of lights..wow..if I use 2 it's a complicated scene..;)
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

I love him! :o) I am amazed at the versitility of these metaballs. One thing I'm curious about is the scale that everyone is working on to get the effects they are. I tried to make toes on my mouse's forefeet but they kept blurring together into a lump. I finally settled for doing without. The second image you posted looks like the character is teeny. If he is, did you make him big first, then rescale him?
Its better to make a large scene instead! That gives you the ability to zoom in to tiny details. For most of my renders, the default plane usually ends up as a tiny dot somewhere. :) If you compare the character with the default ground plane, youll see that hes actually normal size.

This is fabulously both cute and funny! Well done Rochr! Tell us tho, is the little guy hiding behind the ball? Trying to stop the ball from rolling over him? Something is coming at him and hes pinned against the ball? Catchy subject title. Eelie, dont forget you can stretch and squash metaballs also.
True! The big blue metaball is positive as well. (post nr 9) Hes a fatty! :)
