THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Materials Setting Question from a beginner to Bryce...

I've been a Poser 4 user for a little over a year now, recently dusted off my Bryce 5 copy and installed it :o) seems to be a heck of a better renderer. Alright...whatever. Importing Poser figures into bryce using Grouper+Metal Fixer was easy enough... Now, nyone have any good Leather and Latex materials settings recipes they'd care to share?

Leather I use a photo texture. Latex I would think you could get good enough choosing one of the stock grey's with whatever specular component color you like, darkening the ambient color to black, then cranking the specularity to 100.

Heck, you can download them for free. I'm not at my usual work PC, or I'd send along where to get them. I've seen a lace texture, and a leather jacket texture. Should be leavign this site in about an hour, get it to ya then.

Simple latex; start with a solid colour base, jack specularity to max, ambience to <10%, reflection to between 10-20% (depends on taste) and pehaps a trace of metallicity. You can also, if you have the UV map, custom paint a set of trans and bump maps for whatever clothing item you are working on. These should be applied in separate channels (applied parametrically) if you are working with a procedural tex as per the above recipe.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Also if what you are viewing is under a strong direct light, I would also suggest about 10% (dark colour) to 15%(light colour) transparency as per typical clothing weight latex.

I spent an hour setting up a text document, posted it, but don't see it anywhere. Go up a few postings, and look for one called Textures, there's a bunch on the 4 sites I listed. Good luck.

RDNA has latex textures for free. I think they were for Poser but that's never stopped me using them in Bryce. You'll have to sign in to get them. Catlin

oh..never thought of that..yeah, there's bunches of leather, lace, et al, over at RDNA..have quite the collection, just never thought of using them in Bryce..d'oh! Go back a few threads to another texture question, and the procedure's been screen-capped to explain.

The RDNA marble textures are really good in Bryce too as well as the leather, metal, etc, etc. Catlin
