Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2026 Mar 05 8:06 pm)
You do this by creating a transmap texture. A transmap texture is done in shades of grey, black, and white. White colored areas are completely opaque, black is completely invisible, grey is semi transparent, depending on the darkness of the grey shade. So, to make one part transparent, create a transmap from the orginal texture, paint the part you want transparent black, and the rest white. Save it under a different name (usually the same as the texture with "trnas" added to the name. Then go into materials and assign the new transmap to the transparency node, set the transparency value to max, and render. There's a good tutorial on transmaps here somewhere, and the poser manual explains it pretty well. Transmaps are used for eyebrows, eyelashes, and pubic hair on body and head textures too. You can have a lot of fun making different transmaps. I usually use them to create a mesh or webbed look to a piece of clothing. Hope this helps.
Yep. Same applies to Poser 4 :o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
