And it's getting even worse.

I used to be able to click on a big picture on the main page to take me directly to Platinum or Premium or the Loft, now it takes me to a specific product. So I have to use the little menu and the click area is so small I have to really concentrate to hit the right one.

What I'd like is to be able to go directly to what's new/recent additions in each area.

But what's even worse is that it is too hard and slow to BUY things. You can't put anything into your cart unless you're signed in, and once you're signed in the site is waaay too slow to navigate. Adding more than one thing to your cart is a chore.

I know some of the prices are adjusted when a platinum member logs in but I think that has to be rethought. Put the prices out there for all to see on the non-secure pages. Please let us navigate and add things to our cart without having to use secure pages to do so. Cookie the cart!!

Please?

JoeyAristophanes ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 8:13 PM

Can I throw in another slight annoyance? I occasionally go to the DAZ store and browse around. I'll find something I like, click on the appropriate format, then "add to cart". That takes me to my account login. I finish that, only to discover that what I put in the cart has now disappeared. It's no biggie, but it's slightly annoying.

Spit ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 8:15 PM

Yeah, nothing you put in your cart before you log in stays.

Crescent ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 8:23 PM

I check out stuff ahead of time at work, then when I go home, I go and sign in, then for each item, I right click on Add to Basket so it opens in a new window. After it adds the item, I close the window and go to the next item. At the last item, I hit Check out instead of closing the window. It may sound goofy, but it's quicker. I wish we could add stuff to the shopping cart and have it stay there over multiple sessions until we're ready to buy. I buy once a week, so if I could add to the cart throughout the week, it would be nice. I've forgotten to buy items during the weekly spending binge, and by the time I remembered a few weeks later, I decided not to get the item.

dialyn ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 8:37 PM

I sometimes get caught in a loop hwere every time I try to add something to my cart, it asks me to sign in again, and (instead of going back to the original item or the cart) I then get put back to a main menu. It can be very frustrating to try to be spending my money and end up in a maze instead. Of course that could be better for my bank account.

fretshredder ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 8:46 PM

my only gripe (in addition to what's been stated already) would be how sometimes (actually most of the time) when I navigate around the stores and move around from product to product and use the "back" button I get the dreaded "This page has expired".. setting the timeout on the server would fix that. Trivial problem, trivial fix :-)

fretshredder ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 8:47 PM

by "stores" I mean specifically the Premium and PC stores @ DAZ .... hope editing is in the works :)

dialyn ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 8:53 PM

My clarification - I meant the Premium, Platinum, and Loft (or whatever is is about to be renamed) stores at Daz. And the mystic loop doesn't always happen. It's just very frustrating when it does. Especially after doing all that and finding the cart has emptied itself somewhere along the line. Sigh. I also meant to type "where" and not hwere. I need edit less than a better self-proofing process.

EricofSD ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 10:34 PM

well, this cart login disappearing act is not new. I spent a lot of time two weeks ago only to find the same problem. I've emailed daz saying that my time is valuable and if they want to put someone at the cash register I'd be glad to buy but if not then they should rename the site to the daz museum. Daz responded that they were aware of the problem and would be fixing it (which was supposed to take place last week). Well, ok, guess they don't have it fixed. Guess that I'm still not going to spend much time shopping there. But it is a fine museum, eh?

richnovak ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 11:28 PM

my only real gripe is that when i tried to give site feedback, my e-mails came back as all accounts at daz would not accept the incoming message. no idea what happened there.

Penguinisto ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 11:30 PM

Crescent: A wishlist is being isntalled. I'll pass along the rest come morning. /P

DemonMage ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 11:52 PM

My only proplem is that when I go to the site it only loads a portion of the screen. Everything below a sertain area of the screen is cut off. and it's diffrent each time I try re-loading the page. I can't buy what I can't see...

ablc ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 12:47 AM

In addition, my main problem is the visa card receipt at the end of the month !!!! And it's getting worst each time i visit daz ! But the idea of shoping list that keep between session is cool too. Lc

Patricia ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 12:57 AM

Today the wait after I clicked on each item was interminable--the longest ever. And many of the pop-up windows never loaded an image at all. I tried to think of it as an exercise in sequential meditation...click, stare off into space for over a minute, click again and repeat. If they didn't have such great stuff, I'd delete their bookmark on days like this. And being able to keep selections in the shopping cart would go a long way to making up for the slowness.....

MachineClaw ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 1:51 AM

clear identifyable email or contact info easily found please. I'm kinda stupid and don't send feedback, ask a question, or get tech support cause often I'm confused as to who to send emails TO, or where the email listings are. Mostly I just end up asking here and hope for an answer. I don't like the new click on picture icon, that takes you to the specific product. I generally want to see what's new in Premier and PClub and want to be taken directly to the New Additions of each section. it's work right now. my 2 cents, or is it $1.99 shrug

EricofSD ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 2:22 AM

hey, here's another idea, and I'd really love to see it work... When I open a page, say the new items page, or the victoria clothing page, or whatever, and click on an item and look at it, then click the back button, I get back to the page I was on. Ok, this is normal and I like that... But if I click the scroll bar at the bottom to the next 30 items and look at the page, then click on an item, then click the back button... guess what... warning, page expired... and i have to start over. So on those categories where you have 100 or more items and that means three or four pages to layer through, I have to start over to get back to that page to see what's there again. very frustrating.

lwanmtr ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 2:25 AM

And this is the result of heavy javascript use....Why cant folks just not use it?

Djeser ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 2:38 AM

I like DAZ, but agree the website isn't as user friendly as it could be. And it's SLOW. I mean GLACIALLY SLOW. I'm in Europe, and even on DSL or faster line, it takes about 4 times as long to download a purchase from DAZ as it does from Renderosity. If I'm at the office, no problem, but I have ISDN dialup at home, and so end up not purchasing a lot of stuff because of it. I have mentioned this in feedback many times to DAZ, but have always gotten responses that it's me or my ISP. I don't think so...not when it's only the DAZ site.

lwanmtr ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 2:52 AM

It's common for sites that use alot of javascript and flash to be slow....though they wont admit it.... They seem to forget that alot of people are still using dialup, and waiting for all that stuff to load makes visiting the site unpleasant. They also tend to use code that only works in certain browsers. I like DAZ also, but dont go there as often as I'd like to because it takes so long to do anything.

EricofSD ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 3:19 AM

I'm on cable at 356KB/sec and it hangs just as much as it did when I was on DSL at 64KB/sec.

OneShot ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 3:28 AM

Using the "back" button and getting the message "This page has expired".. Only seem to happen in Windows. When I'm on my Macintosh I don't get that "back button" problem. But at work or home using a Win machine (Win 2000 pro and XP home) I get the expired page problems. Yes I would love to see a wishlist like here on Renderosity. It would make purchasing much easier. DAZ could track better what customer desire the most. The price could be update to show discounts at login to view your list. Please have a Side Bar button for "What's on Sale" separate from that of "What's New." Sale seem to be scattered all over the site. I have to search to much or just happen upon an item that I wanted being on sale, Whereas if I had a wishlist I could see by a color change an item that I wanted is now on sale. Add a Vicky and a Vicky 3 Side Bar in both P Club and Premier. And please improvements the download speeds. And fix the dang cart from losing my order! Come on 20 minutes of navigating that site to get 5 or 6 things in you cart. Bang empty! Sigh! Enuff said!

EricofSD ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 3:47 AM

I always thought that a good business had cash registers that were working with cashiers who were there to take your money. I know of three national chains that seem to have a problem with this and I don't shop there any more. To me, a large store with lotsa goodies in it and no one at the register is merely a museum.

artbyphil ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 5:25 AM

I think Daz are great but there site does need speeding up. I'm just on normal dial up 56k modem and I've noticed that my downloads from daz seem to be a lot slower than other sites usually the max is about 3k a sec instead of about 5k I get in other places. Another thing I've asked Daz about a few times is supporting resume on their downloads. Quite often for big files it stops before the end and I have to start all over again. This dosnt happen with other sites so I don't think its a problem at my end.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 5:55 AM

The old site gave you only two downloads, but it didn't seem to count attempts that stopped part way - a much better system in my view. My wish, apart from a wishlist/persistent basket, a sale item list and going back to page 2 or 3 of a block as mentioned above, would be to have the option to switch OS on the basket page, rather than having the Mac or Win? page appear when clicking the Add to basket button under the thumbnail (like several others, I browse first, then sign in to order).

Zodo ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 6:20 AM

I agree. I would probably have spent more money there than I have if the site wasn't so slow and difficult to navigate. That 'page has expired' deal really annoys me especially when using daz's search engine. Why make it difficult for your customers to shop??

mickmca ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 7:58 AM

I haven't gone back to verify, but I think I've sent at least one email a month for more than a year asking them to please, please fix the gefritzin purchase process. Why do we have to add things to the cart twice (click Add to Cart under a thumbnail and you go to an entire page waiting for you to "Add to Cart" with another click)? And dumping your cart after you login is just ridiculous. The stores at Renderosity, PoserPros, and RuntimeDNA don't have this problems, much less the retail sites I frequent all over the net. I confess that I haven't been ignored, exactly. I regularly get replies from whoever I direct the message to (even sales@daz3d.com or webmaster@daz3d.com), but the message invariably is on the order of "So sorry that bothers you, we'll certainly look at fixing it," followed by no change. Glad to hear I'm not the only one bothered by this silliness; I was afraid I was just being cranky.

VI_Knight ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 9:24 AM

EricofSD, I have that same problem of the page expiring but if you just hit the refresh button you should get it back after getting a reload message. Yes I agree it is annoying but at least you wont have to start over.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 11:00 AM

At least most folk here are able to buy from DAZ. I don't use credit cards and generally use PayPal but DAZ don't use PayPal so I can't buy any of their products. I emalled them about 2 months ago asking about this and I still haven't had an answer. So whats a body supposed to do? Catlin

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 12:36 PM

I think people have said that DAZ will take cheques or money orders when others have asked this in the past - either to pay for an order, in which case you'd have to wait, or you could try buying a gift certificate and then using that up (don't kid yourself, once started you won't stop).

sandoppe ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 2:57 PM

The "this page has expired" when you hit a back button, no "continue shopping" button after adding something to the cart (it's almost like they want you to leave after you add something to your cart!! Very dumb!), no way to retain stuff in the basket (or a wish list), no auto logon like every other site I buy from. I don't know how they do it at DNA and here, but they seem to have figured out how to provide secure shopping without having to go through all the hoopla you do at DAZ.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sun, 11 May 2003 at 4:38 PM

Uhm I've bought lots of stuff at Daz with PayPal. I don't understand why you haven't got an answer. When I wrote then and asked I got a reply same day (at least as far as I remember) and it has been working smoothly for me ever since. Of course it's not as fast as with a credit card (if you use PayPal at weekends you will have to wait for someone to arrive at the office on monday and fix the order manually) but I won't have to argue with hubby about what to buy as the money on my Paypal are the ones I earn by selling stuff HERE, so they are MINE and MINE ALONE LOL But I guess that the reason why they don't publically announce Paypal is that they have to do it all "by hand" and it must be time consuming if everybody used it. Daz, you really should get a Paypal shop :o)

Thanks ernyoka but could you tell me where they hide the PayPal option of payment, or can you tell me who in particular I should address an email to to discuss this matter? As was said by someone above it's difficult to find out who is responsible for what, and from what I've read from others DAZ are not usually so lax in responding to people. Catlin

Catlin..have you looked into getting a Debit Card? I have a regular looking Visa card that my bank issued to me. I'm the only one that knows it's really a debit card instead. Very convenient.

Spit, I have a debit card but I don't think sites in the US will accept it. I live in the UK.

First off, I want to tell all of you that have emailed us your complaints in the past, "Thank you!!", we have been listening. We've been working hard for quite a while now at making several improvements to our online store. I believe that the majority of your complaints are being addressed and should be implemented soon. Anything else that anyone would like to see, please feel free to email us at feedback@daz3d.com and we'll see about adding it to our website "To Do" list. The sad truth is that the growth of our store has vastly outpaced the growth of our website, but we are doing what we can to catch up. Please, keep coming back to check our site periodically, we should have most of the updates in place very soon.

And those of you that have a very slow response from our website, I'll be trying to contact you individually, as this is a major concern for us. If we don't, then please email us at feedback@daz3d.com and let us know what OS you are on, what browser, what type of connection, and your general geographic location (country and/or state/province).

Thank you for your patience,

OK, so Steve asked for it! I would like to see all updates for purchased products listed on your login page. I just discovered that I missed a V3 male pack update that has been sitting around for months waiting to be requested. No wonder the Injection Pose program didn't have predictable results for me (doh!) Technically, there is no reason they can't. They have my login, all of the products (should be able to do a reverse lookup if the tables are set up properly), the date of the purchase......all it should take is a single SQL statement or two and they would have a set of n most recent updates.... I don't mind having to email to request them, but looking for the invoice number can be a hassle, especially if the update is months after purchase. Eric

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 13 May 2003 at 12:56 AM

Id' just wish the updates were on a page where they were easy to find. And on a page that is equally easy to find...

In the future, whenever there is an update, we will just be able to reset your download links in your account profile page and you'll see that as soon as you log in and go to your account page. Please keep them coming, anything and everything is welcome for the wishlist (oh, yeah, we've got a new 'wishlist' system as well - along with a shopping cart that remembers what you had in it last time you were shopping). ;) Steve

Crescent ( ) posted Tue, 13 May 2003 at 6:39 PM

Why did the Loft change to Special Interests? It seems like Noggin and HMG Designs had their latest stuff exiled back there while everything else is in Premium. (No, I have no connections to either person/party.) What gets put into Premium vs. Special Interest? If it was critters vs. people, I might be able to understand, but HMG had clothing textures. I buzz all three stores each week, so this isn't a major tragedy for me, but I hate it when I can't figure out the logic of a site. It has the potential to hurt the sales of merchants put into Special Interests, as well, if people aren't sure of what the commonality is. (Hmmm ... all I get is V3 clothing, and I'm finding that in Premium, so I guess I don't need to check Special Interests area.) Cheers! Cres the Confused.

SKondris ( ) posted Tue, 13 May 2003 at 6:55 PM

The "Special Interest" category is the way we're helping to expand what products we're able to sell. We view the Premier store as the place for all the best-quality, high-demand items, the Platinum Club as the membership only area, and the Special Interest/Loft area as the place for all high-quality, low-demand items. So, in the Special Interest area, we're going to be releasing items that we fine to be of great craftsmanship, even if they might not be something that customers have been badgering us about. This is also where we're putting items that were extremely popular in the past. I admit that our store has gone through quite a bit of transition lately, but I promise that we're planning on letting things settle down by the end of the year. ;) Good question, Crescent. Steve

sandoppe ( ) posted Tue, 13 May 2003 at 7:03 PM
