Well I tried. The clouds were not cooperative. I was lucky to get the 20 shots or so that I got. These are the best of the Digitals. I didn't even get half a roll of film shot. The Eclipse is jsut srating to wane now but the clouds jsut kept getting thicker. I never did even see the full eclipse. Oh well, I hope someone did better that I did! Magick Michael

This one you can see the shadow well but a bit over exposed.

Nice! Unfortunately for me, the clouds didn't cooperate for me AT ALL!!

Same here. :/ -=>Donald

Bloody clouds! They rarely co-operate for photo-astronomers...pretty good effort though!

Michael these are great...yes A for effort! It rained here =( There will be another lunar eclipse visible in North and South America on November 8.

Have a look at the "lunar eclipse" bit....they got a photo of the full eclipse, cause with clear weather it should end up with that great copper like color. Amazing shots Micheal!! :D The detail is awesome in those shots!!

Spidy, Although there is another chance in November I was really hoping to get the shots of the full eclipse last night. It was windy and chilly (50F), Do you know how friggin' cold it gets in November in Yankee Land? BRRRRRRRR!!! Thing is, I am a loon. I will most likely be out in it.

Yup the clouds were thick here in the north east too....I didn't even bother trying....

I am, therefore I create.......

Cool shots anyway. Not exactly clouds here; more like a haze. Could not see much detail. I tried a few shots with film. We'll see what comes back from JiffyMart.

spiderwebb ( ) posted Fri, 16 May 2003 at 9:00 AM

lol @Michael...oops that's right you're where the temp drops below 70 which is what I think it was here last night...we keep having to duck the tornadoes! But I'm such a loon I'd be out there trying to catch a photo of the funnel ;>
It was great to see that someone here actually got some photos of the eclipse, I shared them with my family this morning, they said to tell you "Ooooh Ahhhh!"

doca ( ) posted Fri, 16 May 2003 at 5:47 PM

It was hazy here as well but I already have moon pictures so I didn't mind. Astrophotography really requires the right conditions and the right equipment so I have never tried too hard. If I may ask, unless you are doing a time lapse or something, what's the big deal about moon shots? Isn't it basically a moon with some degree of a shadow on it?

zhounder ( ) posted Fri, 16 May 2003 at 5:52 PM

The coppery color of an eclipse is the special shot. Unfortunately only planes and the tops of clouds got to see that.

doca ( ) posted Fri, 16 May 2003 at 6:56 PM

Well, you live and learn. I wasn't aware of any special coloring. In November, I will be ready. Thanks for the education.
