except this site is aimed at 3D work, and most people on renderosity use photoshop as such. Now, it is a narrow description, but it's also accurate to this site. further more, one has to ask, why does the description bother you so much? I mean, I don't just use photoshop to edit my textures and to composit images, but for the scope of renderosity, it's a fair description.
This statement proves yours false anime MISSION STATEMENT The mission of Renderosity is to create a thriving, productive environment that encourages an atmosphere of community, respect, collaboration, and growth for graphic artists of all backgrounds COMMUNITY The Renderosity community is made up of members who have a passion for helping others learn, share and grow in 2D/3D art. The participation and interaction among members has slowly built a family and a place known as a "home". The Renderosity membership is a very interactive community with forums, chats, content and a marketplace for 2D/3D products. Many features have come from member feedback such as: http://www.renderosity.com/index.ez?viewLink=319 notice how everything they mention they use 2d/3d I think the description of this forum does not give a fair assesment on what this forum is for.
Thanks Wladamire - spot on.
It is true, animemeken, that a large chunk of this site is 3d, so to a large chunk of members PS is merely a post-work tool, sure. But this site is NOT aimed at any one particular form of art, genre, or application. It is a graphic arts community, not a digital arts community, and not a 3d arts community, either.
To me, when I read the intro for this forum, in my head I'm just hearing: "learn how to apply filters to your 3d images."
"encourages an atmosphere of community,respect........helping others learn, share and grow" In this forum ? I think not !! There is a core of people here who have no respect for 3D users what ever and I don't see the same disrespect directed towards the 2D users. Quite frankly who's business is it anyway what ends people use Photoshop for. Why don't you push to have the forum discription changed to " Photoshop Purists and REAL Artists Only -Poser Users Keep Out " That would get the message across much better than these stupid sniping posts !
" Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good
book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live
together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and
nations."

I am not against 3d noone said we were. But photoshop is for more then 3d touchups that is all we are saying. I guess you cant read Gini. I use poser 5 but I have no respect for poser. I just use it for a quick model in a scene where noone really will pay attention to the model. IT is too easy to use.
There is no need for the insult to my reading abilities, Wladamire . I use photoshop more than any of the other apps I use but I don't feel the need to constantly bang a drum about it nor be obnoxious to other users about it and basically my earlier post was in response to what Grimtwist started this thread with, which as well as airing a gripe about the wording of the forum description - fair enough in its self - also managed to include the inevitable dig at poser and inherantly poser users. Over quite a few months I have noticed that it does seem to be the main sport in this forum and its really tiresome even if this one was only mild . So in answer to Grimtwist I offered a suggestion - one that rather than just pissing off Grimtwist offered the opportunity to piss off a lot of other people instead. I'm so sorry , Wladamire , it didn't meet with your high standards. So by all means, change the description, but , gee, ya'll think there is a reason why this forum is so lightly used ?

I havent seen anyone in months bag on anyone for using 3d. I seen people ask about the use of the forum n such and debates on how photoshop isnt just for touchups. Noone in this thread was saying anything bad about 3d but the description does not fit the usage. IF you read like I was wandering you would see that is the purpose.
Holy-Free-Holey
What did i miss?
Yes the forum description was not written by me (i can't even edit the copy) and yes it does reflect the "original" intent and attitude of the site in its younger days.
There have been "great" strides to include, encourge and accomidate (okay, maybe just include and encourge...) 2D artist within this graphic arts community. I don't see it as being wrong to modify the forum description to clearify this. I was leary to join the community in the first place because i was not a 3D artist, but i did find many PS users that were willing to share their knowledge regardless.
Hopefully that hasn't changed...

id just like to add that, if it wasnt for Photoshop, alot more of this poser "Art" would totally look bogus. We as a 2D communitee in this forum area weld a program that has little or no 2D bounderys. The are many 2D artists that ONLY use PS as their medium (like myself), and even more that use this program to edit their other program renders. Grim had a point (is currently burried under 22 posts that have derailed into another topic). but... It is true some/alot of the time PS artists get overlooked... which i suppose why there isnt a PS art gallery on renderosity, seeing as there are more people using this as a tool rather than a medium. I hope one day I will be able to post my work in a PhotoShop gallery on here... but who knows.. probly never happen. I am glad of one thing though, Adobe creating Elements. I feel as if it seperates the tru PS artist from the render editor, Making us more unique.
Ok well maybe I'm a bit late adding to this post but I really think it's a lil crazy... Art is art... every program is a form of media... look at it in this way... some traditional artists use chalk pastels to create a whole piece of work, some use them with another media to add the final touches to a piece... it's the same with CG art and the various programs. And as for the intro title thing... I do agree a change would be good... change is always healthy. And as for whoever said they had no respect for whatever program they mentioned... you should always have respect for every kind of artistic media and the people who use it, whether it is your kind of thing or not.

Remember our little discussion on Photoshop not being merely a post work tool for Poser and...um...other wonderful... programs? I think it should be changed. Any suggestions other than piss off Grimtwist? Something that makes Photoshop sound more like a stand alone tool as well as an editing tool.
