Subject: Purchased Sprays and Droplets for Poser - Using Poser 5?

One good person (Nerraw) has reported difficulties in trying to get these objects appropriately assigned water colors and transparencies in Poser 5. After two days of working with together to resolve the problem, here is what Nerraw discovered. This does give a clue as to how to make these work, however. "I had reinstalled Poser4 and followed the procedures in your [Forester's] directions [in the Readme.txt file] and then imported the resulting CR2 and RSR files directly into the Poser5 library through Windows My Computer function. Then I fired up Poser 5 and loaded it from the Props Library. The Materials Room showed the following values. Diffuse Color: was maroon, but I changed it to light blue. Diffuse Value: 1.000000 Specular Color: Black Specular Value: 1.000000 Highlight Size: 0.033333 Ambient Color: Black Ambient Value 0.00000 Transparency: 0.00000 Transparency Edge: 0.00000 Transparency Falloff : 0.60000 Translucence Color: Black Translucence Value: 0.00000 Reflection_Lite_Mult: Box is Checked In the attached picture the "water ring A" is the result after rendering. The sword is just there to aid in seeing the transparency of the water. But then I imported the water ring1 object file again, and applied the same values in the materials room to it as above. In this same picture, the water ring marked "B" is the result after rendering. That seems to indicate to me that the materials room is not functioning correctly. Hope this helps anyone else who is having trouble.

Can't see what's wrong without the pics. But Poser 5 can do very realistic water; you'll want to use reflection nodes or refraction nodes to do it, though. I posted a mini-tutorial on this forum a while back. Do a search for "water" and a few helpful threads will show up. Mine should show up exclusively if you search for "perfect water".

Thank you EsnRedshirt. I'm playing around with the Ray Trace node as well. Yes, it looks like Poser 5 should be a substantial improvement over Poser 4 in terms of its ability to handle water.

Sorry, mail2web doesn't always successfully upload attached files. Here is the pic Nerraw made.
