Hi I have just seen the 'heart of the Woodland' set at Daz. Now I am trying to put together a render that requires a woodland as part of the background, now I'm posing in poser but I intend to render in Bryce. I was wandering if the the textures could be used separately as I don't think I'll need to use the whole thing if I'm using bryce. The reason I thorght to use these 'flat' images was to allow more trees as it were in the pic. any ideas? or am I just being lazy? ;-p Dave

Hi Dave .. I think I would render out a good sized image of just the cyclorama. Then save that out and use it on a 2 D plane in Bryce? (You might want to do a pit stop in Photo Shop to sharpen it if you are going to re render in Bryce) .. The texture may work alone applied to a 2D plane in Bryce but you will have a bit of a time getting it in the right position..

the cyclorama is an object that the images get applyed to. import the cyclorama object into bryce and apply the image you want in bryce. other way is to export out of poser as a wavefront obj and bryce should import it with the texture applyed. once in bryce then you can use it as you want. if any of that makes any sence.

My experiences with doing this in Vue have led me to pretty much abandon the idea, unless the scene doesn't require the Cyclorama to look like anything other than a flat backdrop. The element of depth just won't be there, and unless you're going for a cartoony look, this will be noticably at odds with objects that are "actually" there as opposed to projected on a curved mesh. You'd probaby be better off simply rendering your background normally in Bryce, or using alpha planes created within the app. However, for scenes fully rendered in Poser, I love the Cyclorama. I just picked up that new "Woodland" set at DAZ ... the scenes look beautiful.

I actually had really good results in Bryce using 2 D planes.. mind I have the actual trees and ground plants ect..I made for the backdrops (they were all originally 3D terrains and so on) so when used the background render from Poser on a 2D plane and added in some of the models I made for the backgrounds the effect was seamless with way less render time. hmm , maybe I should do the trees and ground plants up to use, I would have to map them and set them up as poser props so that they could be used in several apps.. any interest? Well it would have to be a lot of interest LOL.

Laurie - there would definitely be an interest in this. There are alot of us who use trees and plants and nature scenes - but you probably have to ask for interest in a separate thread to get people to notice it :-) Firebirdz

Laurie, I could also probably hazard a guess that there would be great interest...because of your attention to detail, I purchase everything you do and I know I'm not the only one. smile

I've actually had fairly good luck with photos as background images in Bryce ... it takes some fiddling, and looks best with a fair amount of midground elements obscuring the photo, but it can work. The image attatched has a photo background ... if you look closely you can see where the trees switch from objects to the photo.

Nice picture. You can hardly notice (had to stare real hard).
