Subject: What programs give you the best render quality for poser?

I heard you can export poser files to other apps and render there, any suggestions?

For stills, any application that handles Wavefront .obj will do. More work, but doesn't limit your options. Export the scene or object from Poser as Wavefront OBJ format and import the .obj file, then bring in the textures. Otherwise, there are plugins for 3DSMax, LightWave, and Cinema4D (and probably others). This is the best approach when possible. All have very decent render engines. For animations, you'll have to stick to the plugins. Beware that the plugins are for Poser 4 Pro Pack and don't work well in the latest versions of the target apps. CL is working on upgraded plugins for Poser 5 and these apps. BYS

Well..all I've used so far is Bryce..;) I'm still in 'pretzel people' stage, so I'll leave it to the experts.

Cinema 4d gives the best render quality for me, and it's really fast which is great for animation. I've never imported Poser files into Max. Lightwave is nice but since I hate the interface, I go with C4D.

I want C4D :( Love that render, madriver! Whatever anyone renders in will take some work. Even Poser. You have to learn the ropes first whatever you use. Including lighting. Not only that, how much scenebuilding do you want to do, and what type? That will make a difference too. And what 'look' are you going for? Some programs, like Vue, for example, can give you a more painted look than a 3D rendered look which is desirable to a lot of people. And do you want something with good and usable native materials, or do you want to depend mostly on picture textures? Do you have time to wait for a true raytracer to render, or do you need faster? I don't have any answers, just questions;) I use Poser 4, Poser 5, Bryce, and Vue.

Cinema 4D if you can get V7 and poser4 with the pro pack......later versions will be updated i guess but for now that set up as stable as you'll get, thats taking animations into account if your just doing stills then look at Vue its a good app..this render is C4d and poser..Steve

Vue d'Esprit will import PZ3 files and render them nicely. Melanie

steveshanks---awesome render! I agree that Vue is a good second alternative, though it lacks dynamics and radiosity, it renders beautiful pix as well.
