3ncryptabl3_lick stop trolling. thats all you are doing. I have a machine here, able to handle Max, Lightwave, Maya without a prob. yet p5? moves like treacle. the machines fault? hmm... mine? hmm no way. other apps that require MORE power than Poser work fine.. yet P5.. slow.

3ncryptabl3_lick No gallery, no homepage-- just your word that you use Poser 5 to the max. Your word means squat to me. Emily

They used the same code as p4? I don't know if they did or not, do you know if they did or not for a fact? Yes, they did; and yes, I do. Sure they reused the gui. But you can't add all those 'frills' without rewriting the core. You're wrong. I know P5 'IS' better than P4 and i don't have to be a p4 user to say that. Sure. Whatever you say. p4 code was writen too long ago to be of any practicle use in p5. With newer cpu's, gpu's, os's and periferals p5 can and should only exsist with a newer machine You just proved my point. The "new" P5 doesn't take advantage of any new hardware. That's because the code is 4 years old. I have practicle P5 experience and that makes me an authority over you and anyone who gave up on it. HAHAHAHAHA!! Okay, boss. You da man!

Kaibach what is your problem? Are you so offended that I am here posting relevant posts? I think you need to go take a time out or something... If anyone makes a point of personalizing this whole thing then thats their perogative, don't go laying your malady on me just because you have nothing to offer.

Wait? People who actually like P5 and say it on the board are now considered trolls? Well paint me green and whip out the torches and acid, because Poser 5 works fine for me. Okay, I'll admit it does have the occasional lockup, but usually that's because I did something stupid, like setting a parameter dial to zero when it should be higher. For the most part, I enjoy it, I find it stable, and it renders hair, cloth, stills, and .avi's nicely. And to the naysayers who don't believe I actually can use Poser 5 since I have no pictures in my gallery, I keep my gallery on Renderotica, not Renderosity.

Queri, I use P5 constantly. I never get a hitch. And I have gallery, Freestuff contributions, and a store. The fact is, I have no issues with it on my machine - an Athlon 1600+ with 256 mb RAM. I know a lot of people are having problems. I'm willing to stake money that P5 is trying to use resources that many driver types access, causing the conflicts. There is really no other way to explain why it magically works for some of us, yet doesn't for others. If we went by posts in the forum, it would look like 90% of users can't get P5 to work. Yet actually approaching people, it seems more like 40%-50%... the ones who get it to work just don't post in here. Except for fools like me, however. Queri, please, I am not trying to start a fight, myself. i commiserate with people having problems with P5, I've had to deal with incredibly buggy software before, myself. But not everyone has had the same bad experiences, and the # of posts on the subject does not give an accurate representation on #'s. If you gave a poll in here about it, yes, you'd have an extremely significant majority with problems. mainly because most of us who don't have problems really rarely bother to get involved in the arguments. We just get yelled at for it.

Remember, kids! Napalm is Nature's Toothpaste!

The problem is, people who are having problems are being yelled at by a minority who have P5 working fine. People who are using P5 with no difficulty are being yelled at by a minority who are having problems.

I'm having problems with P5 and I've been told: my machine is obviously too old to handle it (my computer is less than 2 years old and I've stuck in memory upgrades, etc. since then), I don't know how to use Poser (I've had Poser since P2), I don't know how to take care of my machine (I'm in tech support, thank you very much), or I'm lying.

People like Valendar who aren't having many problems are being told that they either don't really use Poser (default NVIATWS, sans temple or sword) or they're lying.

Poser 5 is very picky. It works great for some, horrible for others. That's all there is to it. I agree with Valendar as to the probable cause - I think P5 was clumsily optimized and if you don't have exactly what it wants, you'll have problems with speed and stability. The problem is, no one is sure what P5 is looking for, even though we've gone around and around sharing system specs to find a commonality.

Insulting people who have a different experience with it than you do is ludicrous. It does nothing to help resolve problems. All it does is piss people off and make the insulter look like an idiot because they're making assumptions that often aren't accurate.

Please keep to the topic of how P5 works (or doesn't work) for you, and not on other people using the program.

Thanks!
