Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 30 8:14 pm)
You need to close Poser before you import a Pz3 into Vue, otherwise you always will get an error message. Vue will then ask you the first time to locate your Poser.exe file (locate Poser 4 exe!!). After it should work great. If necessary, reboot your machine before you try to do that. And if every thing gets wrong, go to the support at e-on's site and maybe also tell us step by step what you're doing, your OS and so. We may be able to help you out. Guitta
I can't remember, but in the Vue directory, there may be a file called poser.something_or_other that gets put there after you show Vue where to find it. If there is one, see if deleting it helps. If that doesn't work, you might try reading any .cfg and/or .inf files you find to see if that's where it's stored. After that, I'd check the registry, and if there's nothing there that can be corrected with the proper path to poser.exe (In the Poser 4 directory), maybe uninstall and then reinstall Vue. Wish I could help more, but I'm not at home on my PC where Vue is. Good luck!
Thanks Mike - you were nearly right. I popped over to the e-on site, looked in the Knowledge Base (excellent) and found the solution!!! It worked right away too. Here's a quote from e-on: ------------------------- "Rename the Poser 5 app to something, lauch Vue 4 and try to import a PZ3. Vue will prompt you for the Poser app. Point it to Poser 4, check that the file imports, then close Vue and rename your Poser 5 app back to it's initial name" ------------------------- So what I did was rename my Poser 5 executable, poser.exe, to poser. exx and then did the Object Import thing in Vue. Since it had now lost contact with the actual poser.exe file it was forced to ask again and I could redirect to the P4 poser.exe instead. Whee!! I dropped a Poser Vicki in there, she rendered first time, warts and all, incredible. Thanks guys, I hit the ground running! :] Fishy not at all frustrated

Oh well. There I was opening Vue for the very first time. Played with the intro tut, lovely! Then I fetch a Poser scene and want to export it. Vue asks for the path to my copy of Poser, and I autoamically direct it to my P5 folder (not my P4) not thinking it will make any difference. And boom! Vue tells me my Poser serial number is invalid..... and now I've had it. I try to open Poser PZ3's and it immediately says my Poser ser. no. is invalid, gives me no chance to redirect it to my P4 instead, which it might like better. What on earth do I do now? And both my P4 and P5 are 100% guaranteed OK, no funny stuff. Purchased and valid. :[ Fishy frustrated
