Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 26 2:05 pm)
Adult sites are fine with me... but... It would be easier if you provided a link g Or is that prohibited by the TOS?

Sounds like this is a really useful tutorial. I am always willing to learn new and better ways to get poser into bryce, although my way works I am sure it probably not the best way.
The greatest part of wisdom is learning to develop the ineffable genius of extracting the "neither here nor there" out of any situation...."
I would love to know more about moving Poser->Bryce so I just visited your site and, with the exception of the navigation bar on the left (which takes you to nowhere) there's nothing to be seen. No pics in the Gallery, no Tutorials, no Games, no Downloads. Did you take it off the server? I'm on a G4 Mac, OS10.2.6, with MSIE. Do you have an alternate URL? -scara
Could you IM me the URL then? Or just type a non-proper link, like phantast.com or whatever?

Well, i just hopped over & everything works dandy for me(PC, using Netscape 6.2). Now, that is a very informative Tut! Since i rarely use Bryce(3), my knowledge of it is somewhat limited. Now, i understand the Mat Editor, the lights, the groups. But, is there a hidden option somewhere that tells bryce to not move & scale imports. Basically, i load Vicky, apply the Mats, then load the Clothes. And that's as far as i got. The clothes appear offset from Vicky & scaled wrong. I did check the "options"(or preferences), but the only option available says: center objects to World or Camera view... Tried both & i still get the same result. now, that tells me that i should export Vicky & all her apparel into one .OBJ?? Darn, if that's true then so be it. Thanks a gain for the Tut!! Marco
ah..have to do it at home, the Firewall at work goes ballistic if you even try..heck, even Phil C's site is to risque for the J O B (nothing against Phil, but our Firewall gave me quite a surprise when I tried to go there..great site btw..;)
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Just a quick tip on matching scales. If you need to move your stuff into Bryce in two or more installments, but your whole scene inside a simple cube (just use the one from the standard props), then include the cube in each export. Since the cube encloses everything in the scene, Bryce will put each imported cube in the same place and make it the same size so everything inside the cubes will match in scale and position. If it's an outdoor scene, you'll need to delete the cubes after you get into Bryce.

Ajax, i just had the same idea! I use that trick when i transfer modeled parts from different modelers & have to bring them into one. It's funny. When i'm doing a rush job for a client & need to find a solution, i find it right away. But, when it comes to my personal projects, my mind turns to jelly... :-O But, after rechecking Phantast's tut, i noticed that all parts where present in the "Grouper" window! Doh! I just finished importing a figure from an old project. I gotta say, that the settings you use, Phantast are dead on! Specially, the part about using both "Ambient" & "Diffuse" with the maps. The skin looks great! Thanks for showing us how you pull the rabbit out of your hat! ;-) Now, to learn how the darn lights work. That's probably my biggest "pet-Peeve" for 3D apps. No Standard has been established for the Behavior of Lights & cameras... If there was such a standard, then i could easily match lights & cams from one to the other. My latest pic "Easy Riders" is one such challenge. I rendered the figures in Poser, then rendered the clothes, bikes, & Bridge into C4D. And the "Paysage" was rendered in VUE4. Took me half an hour in each app to match the lights & cams. The only trick i found is to use a cube & sphere primitive & a Plane with a Grid texture in the background. That way i can match the POVs to within an inch tolerance. Why not render everything in Vue4? Well, i tried. But, although Vue4 is awesome for doing Landscapes. When it comes to props & figures, it doesn't hold up to C4D. And C4D renders 10x faster. Dolce Sogno! Marco
Aargh! Been to the link, yep, it's there with banners and english links in psuedo-asian fonts but no content. wassup with that? Explorer/Mac, no Firewall, certainly no problem seeing the banners for "cat fight central" but no tutorial, download, games, gallery, nada except for the title of that page at the top of blankness. Sounded interesting but no joy. : (
thanks for the link... even though I don't use Bryce - there's some tips in there that's useful for Carrara users. I really should get around to doing a tutorial for Poser to Carrara - as many of the things you touch on here are things I believe in strongly regarding my Poser to Carrara rendering too. (like saving your Poser texturing for Bryce or Carrara, where it can be done much better, and dispensing with it altogether in Poser) Also some tips on exporting from Poser is useful, lots of people don't realise there's some logic in how you export as well. Your tips for exporting by using the grouping tool is something that's exceedingly useful, though more for morphing in Carrara's case as you end up with named polygons then, less for rendering as Carrara has an import that allows you to split the materials to individual polymeshes.
Ok... down with poser!!!? I really enjoyed reading your section in the tutorial on "Why Bother?" hell yes.. im not totally insane.. other people out there share my views! tg? There is just one question that i have now... hmm... here goes: Is it possible to export poser animation sequences and import them successfully into bryce??? I'd realy love to know... The ppl at the Corel Helpline sia it wasnt possible? Did u know its impossible to export grouped booleen objects out of bryce? Damn?... I was shattered... And why??? You can import from any other program into bryce.. so what about the other way? Or.. you could just import poser animation into bryce... who needs poser? I just discovered Maya... Muhahaha... modeeling power beyong comprehension there... ;) Any ideas..? ty anyways...
