THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: !@$#$&*@#$#$#%@! trees..........

Okay, I getting just a little bit miffed, I created two really old big gnarly trees in the tree lab, gave them a texture, put some rocks and terrains(4) in the scene and every frellin' time I go to change the sky Bryce goes ballistic and shuts down! Anybody, gave me a clue as to why? I've alotted a big chunk of the hard deive for virtual memory, Bryce has precendence over all other programs for resources, so what else does it want?! I'm almost sure it's the trees, I'm only using two and I was going to use 3 but at this rate.......all other trees in the scene will have to be 2d..... Ideas?

It might not be the trees...Most of the terrains that come with Bryce are 1-6 million Polygons which is fairly high so if you have 4 that could be way to much for your machine/Bryce to handle...suggestions and these are only a couple 1.The terrain that is the closest save then export the other three at a lower resolution then re-import back into Bryce and add more Bump to the Texture...When you re-import back into Bryce instead of Millions of Polygons you only have ten thousand.(I have started on a Major Mountain Pak for Poser and Bryce that will help in so many ways) 2.Layers...Render your scene in Layers,Starting from the Back of your scene and rendering your scene towards you... 3.Pick up machine walk over to window and position yourself twist slightly and toss.

Thanks, but I had 18 terrains in the sea image in june, and not once had this problem, trees on the other hand are composed of metaballs and maybe there are limits to how much you can squash and re-squash them.....hmmmm.. However, I'm reinstalling Bryce and the patch(means no DTE work) to see if it's just a quirk, I've saved one big tree as an object, and I'll do the whole scene minus the big ones, sheesh, there's a waterfall too...oh well, I'll also try the export method on the terrains.... Layers huh, ok, onionboy, j/k :), I'll try the layers approach too.....:

Known issue with B5.0.1 is Duplication/Replication/Muli-replication of trees - eventually they'll crash Byrce. Is that what you did to get the second tree? In the last challenge scene I had 160Mb of terrains, 2 @2048x2048. Had no probs using it on both platforms Best; Dan

I have a horridly bad comp for rendering, and i had somewhere around 5 terrains in my july challenge...Bryce was decided to be nice...for once...

It's Karma...for putting everybody through the DTE last month...

Well, that s'plains that, yup, I duplicated the trees, 7 originally, then I had to delete all but two, so the solution is to save the settings and re-create the look with a new tree, gawd, what a pain in the ass....onward and upward.... AS, everybody learned something benefical in the DTE so it was not for personal gain, no Karma problems here 8)

Yes, but I have decided to keep them all to myself, lol. Actually, I'm rendering out little previews of all the mats, and assembling the pics, making the webpage, etc. AgentSmith
