THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Export an obp file as a ojb or 3ds, is it possible?

Hi people! I was wondering, I can never seem to figure out how to export a mesh from bryce. Sometimes i need to export something i'm working on to another program, but it wont let me. Any tips? thanx!!

You can only export terrains and lattices, I think, and once it becomes a obp there's no going back. You cannot export Bryce primitives. Bryce was written for importing, basically, not exporting.

you can also export previously imported meshes. select the mesh(es), terrain(s), lattice(s) or rock(s) that you want to export and press CTRL-D to go to the export interface.

ctrl+d? thats duplicate object for me. I have actually had problems exporting previously imported meshes myself, but its almost a sporatic problem

I've just spent all night trying to export a 3ds object and Bryce is having none of it. The only thing that's changed since I imported it is I grouped it with another 3ds object. Could that be what the problem is, do you think? Catlin

See a post I did above for converting a 3dmf to obj - basically rayraz missed one step... first press cmd/ctrl E to put the mesh in edit mode THEN hit cmd/ctrl D to export the mesh : ) Scott

thanx for correcting my misstake Scott :) Catlin; could be. I must admit I haven't ever exported a previously imported mesh yet. I only know it should be possible :) There's no boolean action going on it the group?

No there's no boolean, it's those teeth I made in Rhino. Swade asked me to put them in free stuff and I thought ok. But since I couldn't get it to export as a 3ds I just exported it as a Bryce object. Thats where the fun comes in, it is now 23Mb and there's no way I could host that for d/l never mind R'osity accepting for such. I'll go try what Scott suggested, it's either that or I try to learn more about grouping things in Rhino.........that program scares me. hehehe 8) Catlin
