Are you sure it's hanging? You say your limited with the amount of Ram and by what I see in your image, 17% would be just about where the glasses to the left and panels to the right of the figure would come into play. I'm guessing those panels have transparency as well as the glasses? Have you just let the render go for a few hours and see if it gets past the 17% mark on the AA scan? I hope you get it to finish the AA render because it looks great even without it. Dave
Wow. That's quite a complex scene. Many objects, each with their own level of intricacy. My guess is that if you still didn't see it going past a certain point after a couple hours of rendering, you may need to boost the system's RAM another 24 meg or so. I don't know how much you carry in there now, but I'm sure a render of that kind of complexity (i.e., lots of refractions and transparencies) will need a substancial amount if you plan to do a large render. The image looks great though. Good work! The only thing I would suggest is to make the girl a little bigger... those wine bottles behind her look like 3 gallon juggs compared to her proportions! ;-))
Yeah, I know, she's the right size but the bottles are too big. and at this point it takes 10 minutes to do even the slightest adjustment on any object. I have 64 megs of memory. Can't afford anymore. My financial situation is desperate, to say the least. The 17% is just to her hand and a bit down the gold goblets

I've never tried it either but it looks like the Plop Render Tool mite do this for you? I use Bryce4 so maybe this other suggestion may not work in Bryce3D but you mite want to give it a try. You mite not need some of the objects in the scene to be AAed? To do this to an object. Select the object, open the Attributes Dialog Box, Hold down the Shift&Ctrl keys while closing the Attributes Dialog Box. This will cause the AA scan to ignore that object. You can do this to as many objects in your scene as you wish. If you want to get AA back to an object that you've done this to, just repeat this to it. Dave
Yes boney , You can patch render in B3 ,just open the file . select the cube on the right to toggle view modes to get the wireframe view and make your tweak on the object(s) now click the cube again to bring up the bitmap again. now lasso the area you want to patch(the tweaked area) and hit the little ball to render just that area. just be carefull about lighting tweaks or the patch will be very noticable. note: this CAN be un done, if needed. but I would make a copy of both the br3 and it's bitmap first just to be safe. or you could just "revert to saved" Hawkfyr

well, what's happening so far is that Bryce started acting weird on me the last few days. so what I've done is delete and reinstall it. I'll have to spend hours tomorrow reinstalling all my presets and objects, but I'm sure we've all enjoyed that little experience lol. I'm hoping maybe after I'm finished with that, that will solve the problem.

Bone ,try rendering it before you load all those presets,I'm not sure but I think full preset librays can cause the program to use more memory. Kinda like if you have alot of filters installed in PhotoShop, will slow it down. Good luck Hawkfyr

From my experience with rendering glass (Bryce 3.0 with 64 MB Ram) - when Bryce gets to an area with several small glass or objects that all react transparently together with transparencies and reflections - the render time slows down unbelieveably. (Probably the same with highly reflectant objects, even if there is no transparency - its the number of small items altogether that makes Bryce act so differently - like your goblets all very close together.) I have one pic I've been working on for a month and a half where the Plop Render takes about an HOUR to go from one percent of anti-aliasing to the next percent. (Yup - that's 100 HOURS for a Plop Render. Hard to want to finish this one.) I have also discovered (darn it) that when Bryce runs out of Ram it resizes the picture down to a tiny size and just stops rendering. If this isn't happening, I think you can just let it keep rendering at this VERY slow rate (as someone else already suggested). Dunno if this info helps or reassures - hope so.
