Subject: Parallel lights bug

Has anyone noticed that the parallel lights aren't! They are actually conics in a clipping structure (either cylindical or box) The example here is a square parallel source with surface visible. Notice the shadows position/shape versus the cylinders parallel with the light axis through the various key window points. I have the same situation with the round lights. A second bug and I think someone caught this in the past is the light getting through solid shadow casting objects. Anyone know of a workaround on this? Richard

The light comes through on volume visible lights as well is what I meant. I understand that it is a surface ion the image above (I just used that to show the light shape better)

Aye, I've always hated the parallel lights, never quite got them to work properly. Bryce has a few lighting bugs, this one, and the one where you open your scene and all of a sudden all of your lights have gels on them! Accchhkkk!

Surely the work-around about the gel-jels should be to remove all but one-u-like from the main folder......? Just an idea.....

I don't think that would work. It is those that it applies. it is usually a texture.

By definition ( and comparison with other programs ) what Bryce calls parallel lights are nothing but spot lights. The only true parallel light in Bryce is the Sun/Moon.

I tried that and it does work. You do have to jack up the intensity though and then the second problem becomes much more obvious. Fully opaque solids should not allow blocked light to illuminate things in their shadow.
