Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 10:00 pm)
In theory, a PZ3 file should open jsut fine from wherever it is, as it references either the poser Runtime or full paths... However, there are minor exceptions when loading a PZ3 where it will try to search it's own folder's structure rather than Poser's, but that only occurs (to my knowledge) when someone consciously hacks the pz3/cr2 file.
Not entirely true, Lyrra.. when the cr2 is modified so that a bodypart is called from an additional external object rather than being part of the figure Resource file, Poser often gets confused when opening the pz3 and searches for the object in the pz3's subdirectories rather than it being relative to Poser's runtime, regardless of whether or not that object file is in the right place. This of course doesn't affect most users though, so it's a minor thing to worry about unless you're into creative cr2 hacking.

Hi all, I'm moving to a new computer and want to install P5 on the C: drive and then copy over all my existing Poser work (.PZ3 files) to drive D:. I had created these PZ3 files on a computer where they were on the same drive as the Poser installation (C:). Will I have a problem opening/using these PZ3 files when they are on a different drive? Do they have internal references to a particular drive for things like geometries, textures, etc.? Since my Poser installation will be on C:, the PZ3 files on D: will have to find the required geometry files, etc. on C:. Thanks for the help! Right now I have a pretty standard installation of Poser 5: program and all my work (.PZ3 files) on the C: drive.
