THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Newbie help on exporting !!

As a newbie to Bryce, I'm perplexed on how I go about saving an object I created in .3ds format or whatever Bryce will export as. To date, whenever I have my object selected, I don't see the "export as". It's grayed out. Is there something I am missing??

Bryce doesn't export objects logically by something as simple as clicking on the menu item you think would work. I have no idea why, but the only way to export a 3ds object in Bryce is to select the object, then click on E (for edit mesh), then hit Control+D. It makes no sense, but there it is.

Could be worse, could be raining.

But you still can't export models made with primatives out of Bryce in any other format than .obp. You can only export 3ds or obj if these were the formats you imported the objects as. If there ever is a Bryce 6 that is one of my wishes for it, let us export our creations for use in other programs. Catlin

Ok..say I made a real nicely materialized sphere and would like to save that object for future use. How would I go about this, if possible?

Go to the little arrow at the side of where it says create, click on it and you'll open some presets. There is an arrow at the bottom with installed and user, go to user and click on add. There you go you've saved what you made. 8) You can save objects here that you've imported too for a quick import, and from here you can also export the obp file to save on CD or whatever. HTH 8) Catlin If you have any more questions just give me a shout and I'll try to answer them for you or I'll find someone else here who can.

Of course, if you are mainly talking about saving the material (and you might want to save that separate from the object ... whether a mesh or a primitive ... you just select the object, click on M, bring up your presets library and save the material in one of the categories. By the way, I suppose you all know that you can create addtional folders for materials and switch back and forth? (I often do that when I am working on a large project and want to have all of my materials for that project in a separate location). You switch floders by going to the little arrow at the bottom of the materials screen (the one that brings up Watchful Eye and other third party materials).

Could be worse, could be raining.
