For the most part, 3DCommune's Alexa bends great, requiring little (if any) postwork... however, there are a few situations where some things break up, depending on the pose.

I've played around and come up with a few fixes (see image). The fixes are presented as an Joint Parameter INJection Pose file (a JPIP? ;), and can be applied to both Alexa and any clothing that uses Alexa's standard joint parameters (most clothing should work fine, but I wanted to state that in case of exceptions).

Once you've applied the new joint parameters, you can save your character/clothing back to the library and the new settings will be stored with them. I'd recommend saving to a NEW NAME so that you don't overwrite your originals.

The file is now available in freestuff at 3DCommune and will be available here once it's been approved.

Cheers,

  • Keith

BTW, in a similar thread at 3DC, some questions came up that I thought would be worth repeating here (the answer, at least ;)... My changes are actually not JCMs (Joint Controlled Morphs), but are a new set of Joint Parameters. These are the values that tell Poser which polygons to bend/warp and how to bend/warp them when you bend/twist/etc. a body joint. For example, when you bend a knee, Poser needs to know which polygons to 'crunch' (on the back of the thigh and shin) and which ones to 'stretch' (on the front of the thigh and shin). The joint parameters define which polygons to operate on and to what extent. When people make clothing, they usually use the .cr2 file (which has the joint parameters in it) of the base character as a basis to get JPs for thier clothing... this insures that similar groups of polygons get used for corresponding bends in the base model. ** If you are making new clothing, I'd recommend that you use the ORIGINAL Base Alexa Model's .cr2 file and NOT one that has the new joint parameters... your clothing will then work properly with the original character and customers can apply the new JPs to the clothing if they are using my JPs on Alexa. **

She's such a cutie! Can't wait until I have the money to buy her, and thanks in advance for the JP improvements. :) Are you going to release a texture set for her? I noticed you mentioned one in a few renders, it looked excellent!

Thanks FL... the texture I've been working on is the one used in the render above... the head texture is all new (mostly photo-based) and the body texture is a re-working of my Ember texture. The head texture is pretty close, but the body texture still needs a lot of work. If I ever get it right, it'll end up (reasonably priced) in my store(s).
