Sorry, I am a beginner. What are MAT files and how do you use them? Are they similar to TRANS files? Thank you

no mat files is just another name for material files they can change the material on your model with just a click of the button things like changing skins or clothing textures all mat files are pose (pz3 files) in free stuff is a program to make your own called 'mat pose edit' MPE3

Small correction: all MAT files are Pose (pz2 files). :)

Thank you. Can they be used as a texture map file in surface-material editor, or must they be loaded from the "Pose" menu. Once again, I thank you VERY much

The idea behind MAT Poses is to load a texture set (maps, colors, settings) onto a figure in one go instead of having to go to the material editor and do it all by hand. So you just click on it from the Pose menu and it will be applied to the currently selected figure (the appropriate figure must already be in the scene). Be aware that each MAT Pose is specific to a particular figure (e.g.: you should apply Victoria 3 MAT Poses to Victoria 3-based figures only). If you load the incorrect MAT Pose for a figure, it will still load, but will not look very good. :)
