Subject: Question regarding moving files in Poser Pro Pack

I know this topic has probably been gone over before, but... I have Poser Pro Pack and I'm in the process of the never ending task of organizing and reorganizing things, and I was wondering if it would be okay to move or even to delete the "default" people, characters, clothing (i.e. business dork, dork, P4 kids, mannikin, etc.) either from the runtime folder altogether, or to another folder within the runtime (i.e if I created a folder called "Dork" and put him and all his people and stuff in it)? I'm just trying to make it easier to find things and I am trying to categorize and subcategorize. I'm even going so far as to print out thumbnails and make a "booklet" so I can look things up! ;-) Does anyone recommend perhaps saving different categories of items to CD and then when I need it (i.e. "Weapons") then I can just load the CD and get it off of there? or install it when I need it? I'm so bad, I even have a bunch of stuff I've bought and free stuff sitting in a folder that I haven't even installed yet, and I'm not sure I even remember what half of it is. It's like an addiction to visit the "Free stuff" every day and say "Oh, there's something I could use". Whether I actually do or not, is another story! Thanks!

You can't switch directories or use subdirectories within Poser 4/Pro Pack. So if you wanted to use "Weapons" from a CD, you'd have to drop it into Runtime before you started Poser. You'd also have to ensure it went into the correct directory first, or Poser won't find it. That said, there's no reason to keep the default people if you don't want to use them. You could try PBooost, which does allow you to have several alternate banks switched in. Another way is to put items in a rarely used folder, such as Cameras. If you change the file extensions to CM2, poses will sit in there quite happily.

"Nude Man P4 Lo.cr2" is needed by the Walk Designer.

You can change that, however, so Walk Designer defaults to some other character. Look for a file called "walkDesignerFigure" in your RuntimeFigures folder. Open it with a text editor to point the readScript reference to another figure. A word of caution: the larger the CR2, the longer it'll take Walk Designer to open. Walk Designer doesn't use morphs or textures.

If you are gonna stick with ProPack, I highly recommend Pboost, it is quick and verstatile. I used it extensivley until I went to P5 exclusively and the multple Runtimes and nested folders made PBoost less attractive. Correct Ref by the maker of PBoost is also a godsend, makes sure all your textures are right and allows you to move your textures around. Caution, though, if you have a large textures directory (which is probable) correct Ref can take hours to run the first time... but if you keep it up to date, it flies through

Thanks. I do have Pboost and Correct reference, which do help a lot, but I still have way too much stuff in my runtime. I may end up doing a clean re-install and then only put things in the runtime that I am planning on using at the moment. I also have a "ton" of textures, which I'm afraid to even run Correct reference on! ;-)
