Something I thought about the other day, with characters like Koshini, Alexa, Neftoon Gal, and others out, there are ALOT of characters I'd like to see "poserized" Here's MY list... Alfred E Neuman Spy Vs Spy Opus Gollum Nobby Don Martin (Mad Magazine) Astroboy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Any others you can think of???

How About "William DeFeline"?

Somebody already did the penguin, too. Don't know where. And you could fake Gollum (which was apparently Tolkien's anti-semitism expressed as a character) using that Daz gremlin that came with ProPak.

Gareee ( ) posted Wed, 07 January 2004 at 2:44 PM

Hve you guys seen Gollum's MTV awards acceptance speech? It's also on the extended DVDs for Two Towers, and it's just hilarious!

I did a Gollum for V3... I could share the settings. I can't get INJ Builder to accept the file properly, however... so I can't do an INJ file. :( He's not perfect, but he's MY version, so... I'd really like to see a toon version from the original Hobbit cartoon. :)

. I'll work 'em through and email 'em out to you tonight. On the condition that you don't use my version in the contest at DAZ. ;) You can use him as a base for your own, though. I just need that money! 500$ can /all/ but buy me half a decent car!

I'm going to carbon date myself here, but I would like to see anything by Tex Avery. Specifically, Lil' Red and the Wolf. I think Sara, with some serious hip and breast work, could do for Lil' Red, but the Wolf will take someone with some excellent talent. Oh, sure...there's the Warner Brothers collection of toon folks, there's King Syndicate's Popeye and Betty Boop, Hana Barbara's entire line of characters...but I think we should start with Avery's folks. Any takers?

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Wed, 07 January 2004 at 3:59 PM

I'd kill for a good Betty Boop. Or at least do morphs for her!

No contest entries here.. LOL!Betty Boop WOULD be cool!I'd think maybe Puppet could do something like that. You could probably do a "Little Red" Tex Avery thing with Neftoon Gal. The wolf would be cool though! Come to think of it, animaniacs would also be nice!

remc did the Ninja Turtles for Poser.

And you can download Bill and Opus at SHAR3D.

PheonixRising ( ) posted Wed, 07 January 2004 at 6:30 PM

Poser copies of famous characters have been pulled in the past for copyright infringement. I do remember one person actually being contacted from a legal department that was not amused. Then there was when Universal had all the "Alien" look-a-like stuff pulled. It is safer to avoid copyrighted characters and just focus on originals. It's not fun to make'em if you can't share them. Famous doesn't always mean profitable. So some copyright holders will seek damages.

The items about that had problems were freebies. I want to do Daffy Duck and Miss Piggy so badly. But unless you can share it it isn't much fun.

Some good poseable Smurfs. There was a Smurfette out but it was very limited in posing, etc. And of course in the comic strip kingdom how can we survive w/o Blondie and Dagwood Poser characters?

And you could fake Gollum (which was apparently Tolkien's anti-semitism expressed as a character)<<< Why on earth would you assume that Tolkien meant Gollum to represent Jews? I'm sure no one would have even entertained that connection, had you not brought it up and what has it got to do with Poserising him? Sheesh.... Betty Boop would definately be cool. Along with cupies, one could do Campbell Soup kids (they kind of look the same) I like some of the "retro" characters like that. How about the Pillsbury dough boy?

It would take an entire Ph.D. thesis to elucidate Tolkien's motivation for Gollum, but you're right - it's off-topic. This is a touchy issue for Tolkien fans, who view themselves as tolerant and open-minded. It's an even more sensitive issue for British Tolkien fans, because all they have to do is look at their various newspapers and magazines to see that the same anti-semitism prevalent in Tolkien's time is still there today.

Cyhiraeth ( ) posted Thu, 08 January 2004 at 3:15 PM

Well, there is always going to be "someone" who is "anti-something" that's just the way the world works. I don't see where one is any worse than the other.

AlleyKatArt ( ) posted Thu, 08 January 2004 at 3:30 PM

I'm anti-anti-semetic. I dated two really nice Jewish boys. (Not at the same time) Both were perfect gentlemen, both were very kind and tender, and surprisingly mildly tempered. :) As for Gollum... I just don't see it. And it's not me trying to be blind, I really don't see the parellel...

I think Shazam would be a natural, her head is already bigger than average, the problem I had with my Betty was that because the head was so large the neck was getting distorted, so I had to carefully pose her.

I find this thread exciting [and don't see anyway that it can get off-track and nailed shut at this point]...It makes me remember back in the early days of Poser characters. Remember those gawd awful looking people who didn't even resemble cartoon characters? Then came Poser4 with more realism progressing up to the current time with all the photo-realism...now evolving to the toonish people. Poser people are going full circle and improving with each loop...and now we are making a list to take it into the next generation...Cartoons! I love the 'toons ...We need Popeye!
