Subject: What's the secret of these bones?

Hello,

maybe, someone can help me with the figure setup.
What I did was the following:

  • loading Victoria3 and adding an ear morph
  • make a polygon group of the left ear
  • in the setup room, I added a bone into the left ear
  • this resulted in new body part, as it should.
However, if I rotate the ear, it rotates only a little.
Instead, the upper part of the head rotates.

Does anyone know where the problem is?

Thanks,

Ernst

You need to set up the joints of the ear to work properly there is a dr geep tutorial about joints and editing them.

I had a similar problem with the ears of a figure I was converting to poser the head changed shape when the ears moved. I fixed it by making the amount the ears could move less.

The handlebars are facing the wrong way. The head should be outside red Ear inside green and some falloff in between to allow for bend. You need to use Fall-off zones fore things like ears. Principle fopr spheres is the same Outside red doesn't move during roation Inside Green does Everything in between blends during rotation.

PS: The green crosshairs of the center are the center of the rotation.

PSS: Also your groups should be called rEar lEar without the lowercase l and r Poser cannot use symmetry

Here is a look at Pin-up Stephanie's ears. I did them as ghost parts, did't use any fall-off zones, but otherwise pretty much as Anton said. As I never got any feedback on them I haven't added them to any of my newer figures or characters band=bend ;-)

Jim I don't see any placeholders(cones or anything). People probably just didn't know they were there.

I don't feel right about using the placeholders, as you invented them, you know, not-invented-here. ;-) I do mention them in the docs, but you know how many actually read the docs!

:) Well Jim they are just cones or spheres or anything you like. I wouldn't worry about it. And shame on you for forgetting that noone reads the read-me's. :)

Of course now her face morphs dont work. Right??? Couldn't this be done with out haveing an ear group. I mean not messing up her face grouping. If the ears are parented to the head and just dummies. Then the head would deform but you would still have all the morphs. I'm just thinking off the top of my head. Not sure if it would work too well.

Handles allow for the ears to remain part of the head group.

Children can bend Parents, that is how ghost parts work. Once you set 'em up, they will work fine even without mesh, you can do them with just a CR2, no changes to the OBJ file at all. Anton's handles make them easier to operate and setup, of course. None of my shoes has mesh toes, for example, they all use ghost toes, bends the foot part just fine, makes it easier to morph, too.
